I will press the accelerator and the car will seem to only coast at max 1500-2000 rpm. If I turn it off and then re-start it, the engine seems to be okay. It seemed to only randomly happen about 2-3 times in last year. I haven't talked to the service centre about it as the problem is too infrequent and vague and not repeatable. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions on this one?
This is a common problem in all 1.3 MJD 90 hp engines. I have faced the same in my SX4 diesel. But the problem has never occurred post remap which has EGR off . Switching off EGR solves this issue and it will not be done by service centre. You need to go with after market tuners.

You might want to search and look at threads like the following link.

Re: 2010 Fiat Linea MJD, bought through CSD

Nice to know your Linea is almost 7 years old and at 185000 kms is still going strong. Would be nice to see a few pictures of how it's holding up at this age.

My Linea is turning one year old in another fortnight and is at 16000 kms.

Re: 2010 Fiat Linea MJD, bought through CSD

The Car is now at 191,000 kms. No significant problems.
The car is holding up well. You can still feel that solid "thud" each time you close the door. All the electronics in the car are functioning as they should.

The car is absolutely in stock condition. No accessories have been put except reverse parking sensors.
Here are a few photos after some minor denting painting work done last month.

WOW! 191,000 kms and counting. The Fiat Multijet is definitely one of the most reliable diesels in the business.

Sure it is. And to top it, its still running on original clutch.

we also have an SX4 1st gen Petrol, that too, has covered more than 180,000kms and going strong. Just regular periodic maintenance is done and it keeps going.

What we do for enhancing the life of cars.

1. Regular Periodic Maintenance at authorised service centres.
2. No accessories. keep the car as stock as possible. No upgrades to anything including tyres, bulbs, etc.
3. Safe parking.
4. Safe and sedate driving.

Thanks - your tips are very useful. I owned the 1.3 multijet in the Ritz and no clutch problem over 38K kms. Over 191K kms is a different story

I like the safe parking piece. Many times damages are done to the car while it is parked

Any particular reason to switch from the alloys to steel wheels?

Re: 2010 Fiat Linea MJD, bought through CSD

Finally, after 8 yrs and 206000 km of companionship, the car has been sold off. I had an amazing experience with the car. Feeling slightly sad to let it go.
