Re: The zoo zoo saga - Fiat Punto 90 HP Bossa Nova White

Hi Sankalp

FE would be highly dependent on how you drive .With a light foot the max FE i got in city is 17 kmpl till date and the minimum i got is 14kmpl.
Same holds good for highway trips if cruised in speeds around of 100kmph i was able to see a max FE of 22kmpl and if taken to 130s and 140s that would come down to around 17 kmpl.

The max mileage i was able to achieve till now is 25kmpl for around 150 kms on a trip to chennai from bangalore.in short FE depends a lot on the driving style.i dont think there is much difference in FE between 90 HP and 75 HP punto, in fact if you notice ARAI figures 90 HP FE is more than 75 HP.

Re: The zoo zoo saga - Fiat Punto 90 HP Bossa Nova White

Thanks speedKrazy.

This seals the deal for me. I am going for a 90 HP Tuscan Wine GP now.

My driving is somewhat on the spirited side but with long highway trips I am hoping to get decent FE from my machine.

Do keep updating your thread and enjoy every moment with your beauty.

Yet another milestone reached.

An Update after a long gap,

Our last trip to Chennai saw two mile stones for Zoo zoo.

1) 18k covered in a span of 8 months.
2) Achieved an average of 26.5 for the trip.

Now its time for the pics to do the talking

Re: Yet another milestone reached.

SpeedKrazy, congratulations on completing 18k kms.

You really deserve a standing ovation for achieving a phenomenal mileage with the most powerful hatchback available in India at present.

Well. Did you notice any further improvement in the performance aspect?

That is some phenomenal mileage! A friend of mine has never managed more that 18kmpl on his Punto. Could you update us about your driving style?

The pics shows a distance of 179kms; was this the distance traveled? What route was this figure achieved on?

Re: The zoo zoo saga - Fiat Punto 90 HP Bossa Nova White

Thanks Klub Class recently i've been driving a lot.Its like finding a reason to take car for a long drive.
Performance wise i am not finding any drastic improvement but again i never pushed the car to its limits till recently on our way back from kerala last week it touched 175kmph top speed achieved till now. What i would say is till 160 its so effortless and after that we should have patience and there should be enough road left too.Even at 175 punto is rock steady and i felt it had some more power left but decided against going for it.

Furebo thanks yaar for the complement. This was achieved in Bangalore Chennai route.Only thing i tried doing is controlling my urge to speed the car and did a constant 80 as far as possible and yes keep an eye on instant average.

Re: The zoo zoo saga - Fiat Punto 90 HP Bossa Nova White

guys 26 is perfectly acheavable on a light foot with avg 60-70 speeds.you need the patience to do it.ps - sorry for butting in.mines a 75 hp.Here are the stats i get on a sedate highway run on a relatively congested kerala highway drive.Note the awesome range at 1101km.these figures were pre service, now might be little better!

Re: The zoo zoo saga - Fiat Punto 90 HP Bossa Nova White

Now thats some great FE numbers.

On a lighter note, has anyone crosschecked the reliability of MIDs? On some other punto thread I saw FE of 29km/l. Thats insane.

It was probably in my Punto thread that you saw 29km/l. The MID is usually quite accurate - the avg.FE shown by MID is always within 0.5 to 0.8kmpl from the tankful-tankful FE that I calculate after each refill. My last two refills have given me the following figures:

1. Range: 774km, Litres: 39.47, FE:19.6kmpl, FE-MID:19.2kmpl (~450km sedate driving on highway, rest in city)
2. Range: 689km, Litres: 40.51 FE: 17.0kmpl, FE-MID:17.7kmpl (One 76km highway run where MID showed 29kmpl, one 250km long trip where MID showed 18kmpl, rest in city)

Re: The zoo zoo saga - Fiat Punto 90 HP Bossa Nova White

I would agree with starry sky on that ive been keeping track of cars mileage from day one.

i started with tank to tank method and ive never seen a difference more than 1kmpl.this could be partially because of inconsistent filling of fuel.Depending on the dispenser the auto cut of level would vary. So i think the MID would be more accurate than the actual figures.

300 cant agree more with you,If you can be patient enough MJD would reward with amazing figures

The Average of 26.5 was achieved with four adults + their luggage+ a kid on board. For lesser load even more could be achieved.

With soring high petrol prices MJD is a boon to mankind

Suggestions please

Friday when i was driving down the ramp from office parking I got a alert in MID "Insufficient Brake fluid,Do not proceed further".
I took the car to service station and when inspected the brake fluid was a tint lesser than max level and there were no traces of a fluid leak, they just topped it up and assured that there is nothing to worry about.

has any one seen this alert in punto?
Do i need to double check with any other service station?

Please advice
Thanks

Re: The zoo zoo saga - Fiat Punto 90 HP Bossa Nova White

Since this while driving down a ramp, probably the fluids in the reservoir and the placement of the sensor is the culprit. I get this warning in my Palio too

Nothing much to worry about.

Re: The zoo zoo saga - Fiat Punto 90 HP Bossa Nova White

How steep is the ramp? There is a steep incline near my house and I drive up and down this incline everyday. I haven't got this warning ever. So I think the ramp isn't the culprit. Since your brake fluid level was less than max, I guess the sensor is calibrated to ensure that brake fluid is always at max level.
