Exploring a different route via SH 419. The roads are supposedly better.

This route goes via Dishergarh to Purulia.

Asansol - Purulia and Bankura - Purulia are both absolutely fine.
Purulia - Balarampur is also fine.
Dont know about Balarampur - Chandil, and Chas Mor - Dhanbad.

A lot of roadwork going on on NH2, so returning took the Purulia - Bankura road. Unfortunately a lot of the 40 ton truckers also had the same idea. The road is not wide enough to safely overtake these behemoths at will. A bit of patience is necessary.

We had opted for SH 5 via Barakar /Dishergarh bypassing Bankura altogether.

Couldn't figure out a route to skirt Purulia town and made slow progress through local traffic.

Stretches of NH 32 /33 were a mixed bag in comparison.

What is the present status of Dhanbad - Purulia, and Purulia to Chandil? Does one have to really touch Chandil and join NH 33 while proceeding to Tata? Or doesn't one join Mango straightaway?
