I'm in love with the pics. Now you've been admitted to that rare breed of Humans, who have made a tiger expose their canines in trajectory with them! Goosebumps to the core I must say! Very few are as lucky and blessed as you

Re: Face to face with an angry tiger

Mind blowing!! That experience with the Tiger should have made you skip a heart beat or two isn't it?? Loved all the pics and especially the one in which the tiger is "charging with it's ears down". It's a very a sight to see and shows that the cat was very much agitated.

Beautiful ! Isn't the Tiger coming towards you similar to what you see in TV? just kidding. Looks like he was mightily irritated

Feels great just viewing the wonderful pics. thanks.

Re: Face to face with an angry tiger

You were witness to a scene that is a rarity in the jungle and you've captured it brilliantly. An angry roaring charging Tiger is a sight to be seen for which I've been roaming various forests in vain.

Re: Face to face with an angry tiger

Fantastic pictures!. The male tiger is quite big. The canines and the growl can freeze you.

Rated 5 stars for this wonderful thread.

Re: Face to face with an angry tiger

What happens to the people in the jeep if they are ambushed by any animal (tiger or anything else)?
Is it a closed jeep?

Re: Face to face with an angry tiger

It is an open jeep. What you are saying is unimaginable. But this has not happened till date. At least I've not hear any report of this. Corbett tigers are known to cahrge towards the jeep but stop short of it.

A tiger T 42 in Ranthambhore is known to charge at the jeep and hit the bonnet. But that's all. No human injury till date.

In the Rajaji National Park I was chased by a Makhna. He ran after us for about 7-8 kms. It was terrifying as well as memorable. Held on to my dear life, hat & camera hence couldn't click a single shot.

Re: Face to face with an angry tiger

Wow, I'm surprised you could still hold the camera!

Even in a domestic cat, the body language of those laid-flat ears says, "You are in big trouble." And that tail up in the air shows full confidence in territorial standing and ability to deliver that trouble.

(hey, I've spent many long hours hiding behind the sofa with my binoculars )

Well.... this is soemthing that has not happened till date, even though some tigers do charge towards the jeep - but dont attack.

In my discussions with various experts on the field, i have been told that jeep is a blind for the animals. That is why they dont attack and probably this is why Safaris in open jeeps are allowed, but not trekking inside the jungles.

Re: Face to face with an angry tiger

The pictures of the Tiger in your Post # 1 and Post # 9 are true blue indicators of how polarized a Tiger can be. Calm and magnificent OR spine tingling Ferocious.

I would never ever want to see a Tiger in the wild in that mood.

Awesome Pictures

Re: Face to face with an angry tiger

Awesome shots, you have very steady hands to capture that. Have never heard a tigers angry growl in the wild, Kenneth Anderson states it as spine-chilling and will freeze you in the path. Sure that you won’t forget this in your lifetime. Kudos and My 5 stars.

Re: Face to face with an angry tiger

Excellent narration and photos ! I too am a regular visitor there so could trace all the landmarks you described, and you are spot on in your description !

Now the naturalists do not have choices for roamin around and have to follow designated routes. This enforcement comes in the wake of realizing how disturbing it was for wildlife with a dozen jeeps watching and closing in on them !

Who was the naturalist who accompanied you ? I always go with Afsar. His knowledge on tiger behavior is awesome !
