| Swifted : Boulevard and Breakfast at Bangalore Its been over 15 years since I took out some time to walk down the once charming MG Road of Bangalore. The ever increasing traffic, parking nightmare, there are many excuses I dish out when I am confronted with an idea to be at MG Road. All the ideas or invite to be at MG Road was at the peak time invariably and I kept putting MG Road off my list. I continue to live in Bangalore, but tend to avoid MG Road! Metro - no, I never traveled in it till now at Bangalore. Today (27th October 2013) was the day, since I had to meet my friends after a very long time and the only convenient place was MG Road. And the best part was we were to meet for breakfast early morning and to disperse by the time traffic picks up. That seemed interesting to me and I set out to meet my friends. I reached MG Road by 07:30AM. Parked Swifty comfortably and took a deep sigh and looked at MG Road. Empty stretch calmed me down. The Metro have completely changed the charming looks it once had. Changing time, Changing face... This ad for an art show I found at MG Road concurred with me Bangalore, The city in transit  I had a lot of time in hand till my friends arrive, and I decided to have a small stroll on MG Road. | Re: Swifted : Boulevard and Breakfast at Bangalore MG Road sporting a very different look with the Metro Station  The Traffic Cop was friendly and shared a few similar thoughts on MG Road  Metro, the new landmark  Old and new co existing!  Higginbothams - I remember this building!  Yes, I remember Deccan Herald too  True!  I remembered reading a lot about the famed Boulevard of MG Road being destroyed for Metro, and it being reconstructed and reopened with a face lift. I found the entry to the boulevard next to Metro and took a walk on it. There was a walkway at the road level and another one at a height. The one at the road level was barricaded and I was told it will be opened after 10:00AM only. So I took a stroll on the top. The area is now called Rangoli - Metro Art Center  I took a stroll on the top lane  It was quite interesting with pergolas made for creepers   The Metro lane was blocking views  Can you see the Metro?  Before I started I reached the end!  So I walked back again!  continued... |

Is there any restaurant up there?  Old and New, Higginbothams and metro!  I remember TOI, but this building looked different  This guy was playing cricket on MG Road!  continued... |

Snake and Ladder Game  A lot of pictures by kids were on display   Interesting sculptures    Friendship Point  Some function was planned at 10  The orientation of the walkway  Love the empty roads  Swifty happily parked at MG Road!   Some traffic seems to build up  Ministry of Tourism has an office here, curious to know what they do?  continued... |

So I decided to walk on St Marks road a bit before proceeding to the dead end of MG road towards Cubbon Park side. Book Society Building  Seems Hard Rock Cafe is here now!   Koshy's  It was just getting opened!  Old world Charm  KC Das is also nearby  The other end of MG Road   Old Board is still there   St. Mark's Cathedral   Book House  Bible Society of India  continued... |

We went to Koshy's  Jeep Captain joins us  Deciding the menu   That's a meet in a very long time!  The place had an old world charm!  Appam and Mutton Stew   Coffee  Sugar bowl was refreshingly different  KSM_Vtec happy with his order  Jeep Captain was tired from the BODA (Bangalore Off roading activity) the previous day  KSM_Vtec gets training on by two coffee   That's a happy bunch!  By 10:30 we finished our meet and breakfast and parted ways. KSM goes to Mumbai an Jeep Captain goes to Kerala. God knows when we meet again! continued... |
