Somewhere in August 2013, I was in search of some shade nets for my Organic Terrace Garden. I could find them on online portals, but I wasn't sure about them. I also was in need of brake pads for my Civvy. I had no clue about the innumerable shops in JC road, and hence I thought of checking out with guys who frequent JC road and are familiar with the place and shops.

I called up Lukeskywalker, and enquired with him. He informed me both the pads, and shade nets could be sourced from JC Road. A plan was hatched to visit JC road on a weekend to source these items. Lukeskywalker invited a few other common friends and made it a weekend outing.

After sourcing the items, we all met at Kamath's for a high tea. During the discussions, since I was pre occupied with Organic terrace garden, I innocently asked Lukey if he knows where I could source some dry cowdung! And lo, the group began pulling my leg and teased as if Lukey would know all details from sourcing car components to cowdung! And the guys impromptu named Lukey as the Cars to Crap information Guru and the the Team Cars to Crap, thus a group C2C was formed . C2C has a FB fan page and a whatsapp group too, with Lukey as the Guruji!!


Fast forward one year, it was time for the groups anniversary!! What else other than a drive to celebrate!!

A plan was made to do an overnighter at Sakrebyle Jungle camp and bookings done. All tents were booked by C2C and we landed up there on 23rd August 2014.

This is the story of our drive to celebrate C2C's first Anniversary.

I joined the drive alone, while others joined with family. All the others were also having something in common, they were all Safari Owners!!

Day 01 : 23rd August 2014
Bangalore to Sakrebailu

I started from home by 05:00AM and waited for IJS to pick me up from the ORR. By 05:30 IJS arrived and we started our journey. We were to meet at CCD just after Tumkur Toll gate and then continue together as a convoy.

Lukey was the first to reach CCD. We reached CCD by 06:30, and the team was there, and by 07:00 we started our journey to Sakrebailu.

We stopped at Tumkur for some breakfast.

We reached Sakrebailu by 13:30, some facts!

After lunch, I roamed around the place for a while, nothing much to do, and was very sultry. I went to tent and dozed of till evening.

I woke up to some huge noise, the camp caretakers were playing volleyball making a lot of disturbance and noise

By 18:00 after some tea we drove towards Mandagadde Bird Sanctuary

VK gave me his Storme to be driven in this stretch. It behaved well.

We reached the camp back by 19:00. The camp was quite sultry and swarming with mosquitoes. I had carried a mosquito repellant spray and it came quite useful.

We got some snacks and refreshments around the campfire till dinner. Dinner was served by 21:00. Food was OK. After dinner we retired for the day.

Woke up by 06:00 and went in search of a tea!

We then decided to go watch the elephants

By 14:30 we stopped at Masala for lunch

IJS dropped me back at ORR by 21:00 hours.

After a week , C2C Guruji threw a lavish fun filled BBQ party at my place







My Impressions about the camp was mixed. It is not inside any jungle nor it has any activities. Other than some open space, there is no USP here. Food was average and the tents mediocre. Cost was 1450 per head inclusive of taxes. Snacks were charged extra. Unless you need some space to make noise as a team, you can give this place a miss for sure

Plan your drive such that you are at the elephant camp between 8 to 10 to see the elephants, and continue with your drive. You can add a visit to Gajnoor Dam. The Bird sanctuary is on the road itself, so no worries.

Looks like C2C gang did a C2C - CCD to CCD drive (with the SEC night-halt thrown in) .. and then wrapped it up with another C2C - Chicken to Chicken !


Btw, did Guruji send off a boat in that canal ?

Thanks a bunch Lalu for a crisp travelogue, you have summed up the place very aptly, sometimes the journey is more fun than the destination itself, needless to say the photos are very good and tend to make the place look more attractive than in real.

We traveled on the same route on 30th Aug while returning from Thirthahalli trip. I feel trip to Sakrebailu is worth only for the beautiful road which leads to there.
Unlike other JLR properties this one does not offer much from a wildlife point of view.
