Mukutmanipur: A drive with Kolkata BHPians

When it comes to weekend destinations around Kolkata most people unanimously think of Digha or Mandarmani. However there are plenty of other options which are relatively less explored by the weekend thrill seekers. The list of such destinations can be found on this wonderful thread started by fellow Bhpian Samba:
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/travel...-tourists.html

One such place is Mukutmanipur. I recently went there with a group of Bhpians from Kolkata and had a lovely time. Let the pictures do the talking:

Met the group at Dankuni Toll

One should definitely give it a try especially during monsoons. Well that's all for now, until another trip & TL signing off

Thread moved out from the Assembly Line. Thanks for sharing!

Truly the spirit of live to drive! Three guys on a weekend drive but not one or two but three cars!

Nice pics Sam. Mukutmanipur is perfect for a weekend trip. What is the condition of the roads now? Did you explore the Peerless resort there?

A crisp narration with some beautiful pictures!

The roads looks simply awesome considering the prevalent Monsoon. Please update more on the route taken and road conditions.

Re: Mukutmanipur: A drive with Kolkata BHPians

I had visited Mukutmonipur more than 15 year ago with my parents. I was in school then. And stayed at the Peerless Resort that time. The place was so lovely and serene with hardly any guests around. I still remember the view of the dam and forests around it. It was mesmerizing. Could be seen from within the resort. These snaps call for visitng Mukutmonipur once again, the next time I visit Kolkata over a long break.

Is the place still isolated or does it get crowded?

@predator: peerless resort road was blocked due to some construction work. So we turned back.

@gearhead: we followed dgp expressway till durgapur, then took a left and went via beliator and bankura.
Road till dgp was fine except the usual panagar bottleneck. After that it's mostly rural roads, which range from "man, are we in Texas?" To "I'm sure the undercarriage is dead meat"
Sam has put up pics for the first type of the roads.

@sourav: the place gets crowded in winter. Any other season, you'll find it pretty sparsely populated, which suited us just fine!

@sam, thanks for the TL and pics. Me and navtej are slacker type, so you're our designated TL man from now on!
