Re: Ride to the Venugopala Swamy Temple, near KRS backwaters

Thank you for the pictures and write up. It is nice to see a scooter in midst of the bikes and makes it even more special coming from a lady Bhpian.
It is truly amazing how they manage to relocate and restore an entire temple. Must truly take some special skills and engineering.
But then, something similar was done in Egypt when the Aswan dam was built. The Luxor and Abu Simbel temples were relocated and restored in all its glory.

Keep riding and posting.

Cheerio!

Very Nice. It is amazing to see how beautifully restored the temple it is!

One can actually club this with a trip to Melkote/Hosaholalu (which has an amazing Hoysala Temple). To make the drive easy, one can take KR Nagar - Channarayapatna Route. Though a bit longer, is a pleasure to drive than monstrous Mysore road.

I second your thought! I hate taking Mysore road too.

Nice pictures. Had been there a couple of years back. A very serene and peaceful place for an occasional visit.

Sorry for being Off-Topic. Would like to know your thoughts on the Nikon D750 , as looking for an upgrade from Crop Sensor to a full frame camera and have shortlisted it.

Thank you!

And D750 is an absolute gem! Can close your eyes and buy it. Have been using it from past 1 year, super awesome FX body

Does anyone know if this is currently open and people are allowed? Google maps indicates otherwise and we would hate to ride all the way only to be turned back

So the original temples are underwater! Sad but the new one appears awesome too. Amazing clicks that made me feel the music of silence!
