Prologue :
Quote:
Myself vikram mann 26 years old an entrepreneur by luck and biker by choice..!!
i learn riding sportsbike with our group JSB (Jaipur Superbiker) during the time i gain confidence to handle this heavy machine...
throughout sportsbike is always mine first love and love the feel of riding ...

This trip celebrates the freedom of discovering the country on a motorcycle.
It is aimed to encourage safe riding and photography as the two most important aspects of this roadtrip...

Why KharDung La :
Quote:
Everyone I know has a dream... Big or small !!! doesn't matter.. from last 2 years since brought GTR650 i had a dream to ride it till Khardung LA..
was way tuff and sportsbike are not meant to be ridden on this terrain.. since i wanna change this myth..

Khardung La has been considered as the ultimate destination for bikers and adventure seekers around the world.
Riding to the height of over 18,380 feet, which is cited as the world's highest motorable road in the world, is what makes me going there ...

Why GTR650..!!
Quote:
The Sportbike was originally intended for racing, hence the lean forward design. If your back isn't strong, don't expect to feel great ..
i am used to the position of GTR and can easily ride 400-500 kms in a day through love the speed & acceleration makes my mindset...
since its more love & confidence on the ride which i rode from a long time.. thats why against the odds i choose GTR650 for the trip !!

Re: World First: GT650R on the highest motorable pass, Khardung La

I never expected to see a GT650R doing this ride. Kudos to you man for doing this ride on this bike

I always feel that things like spoked wheels, bigger front tyre, more suspension travel, upright seating position etc. are overrated. I don't mean to say that those are not important but the marketing guys of these companies just make them seem like mandatory things without which you can't go on an adventure ride. It gives them the opportunity to create new segments and new audience base to sell their bikes to. You just proved that any terrain can be conquered on any bike as long as one is comfortable with their machine.

its not about bike. its all about willingness to make it !
but riding super-sport on those terrain is on tuff-side.

What a bike, what a rider, what a back . I bet your parents were relived to see you back safe & sound. I am sure your mother prayed everyday!

Did you do the journey alone or with other bikers. Seems like a solo job? In which case double kudos. Thank you for the photos. Did you encounter any difficulties due to the law & order situation in thhe Valley

Wow! and congratulations!
Can you provide some more details about how the bike performed and what difficulties you faced with regards to riding such a bike to Khardungla and what adjustments you had to make etc? How did you work out the logistics with regards to fuel?

Once again congratulations!, it is an unbelievable effort on your part.

Congratulations! I have always fancied riding motorcycle on snow. Did you slip anytime? How much air pressure did you have to take out to be able to ride on snow?

thanks a lot for appreciation brother.
obvious they are very relived to see me back after 12 days trip...
i can bet on that all the prey & wishes is the reason i make it .

[A] i went with two fellow riders they are on 200-250cc but one of bike break down at srinagar so he have to call off the trip!! riding 650cc make me most of time i ride alone!! mostly i always way ahead of other fellow rider.. we have meter set so we been connected during the trip

[b] Yeah 2-3 times i encounter difficulties due to some local people in j&K stopped by localities at anantnag & curfew at srinagar!!
which i handle smartly apart no such issue.

thanks a lot brother.!
GTR performed well during the trip but i had encounter some difficulties during the trip

Major issue are#
[1] Failed Emissions Due To Bad Fuel [for this i used Fuel System Cleaner]
[2] Front Break lever got Damage
due to skid on ice just 2 kilometers before the khardung La!
[i ll post the incident soon]

[3] i took only tool kit and essentials during the ride on tank bag.
apart all luggage is on other bike and car.

[4] Adjustment during the trip!!
[A] Regular service..
[b] Used bigger rear tyre
[C] Deflate the tyre during crossing the ice.
[D] Used Fuel System Cleaner on every tank up.
[E] Took extra 1.5 ltrs engine oil all eat up.
[F] 3 bottles of chain sprey all eat up..
[G] 1 liter of coolant which is also eat up.

[5] no issue for pumping station during the trip.
but we usually carry 5 liter extra fuel on backup vehicle just incase!

thanks a lot brother.
yes i slip 2 kms before the khardung La due to heavy ice on road.
and lost my front break lever.
[will post the incident and outcome soon]

yes i deflate the tyre almost 70-80% during crossing the ice.
remember sportsbike is not meant to ride on snow. and i was not prepared for snow initially but in the end no options left. was 4-5 away from khardung LA cant give up their..in the end have to ride on snow
