Re: Yet another solo ride this weekend - Ooty trip on my Yamaha RX100

Thanks, Avalanche looks very pretty and inviting.

I visited Ooty that weekend, unfortunately, couldn’t cover that route due to time constraints. It remains on my wish list, may be next time. Upper Bhavani is another thing that slips out every time.

However, I had a pleasant experience of Ooty as I stayed at an offbeat place, the Bowers Chalet. Had a little adventure as well as we trespassed accidentally a reserve forest and were caught by forest guard. May write more on it later, not finding time to edit.

What a coincidence, I was discussing with friends about this place for a day out. Except for a common gathering area this ticks all the boxes

It is nice, especially when you are with friends. Not much to do, but you can play badminton and cricket with an awesome view. Campfire in the night is enjoyable as well.

Re: Yet another solo ride this weekend - Ooty trip on my Yamaha RX100

Nice write up, your motorcycle is beautiful😊
I rode to ooty on 31/12/2020 and returned on 01/01/2021 on my re classic 350, the route is scenic and rain gods accompanied me all the way from Bangalore till ooty, i was lucky enough to witness some wildlife along the reserve forests and the hairpin bends were slippery and fogged up to make the climb more of a challenge,Yet another solo ride this weekend - Ooty trip on my Yamaha RX100-b992d37c0d9244728a6f38d79e3e0166.jpeg
The next day it was clear and sunny, a different world cropped up and made the return journey even more beautiful

Inspired by your travelogue, I will take my rx100 to ooty sometime😊

Keep me posted when the plan is fixed (of course, only when the situation turns normal) I will join if I could ship my RX back to hometown.

Re: Yet another solo ride this weekend - Ooty trip on my Yamaha RX100

Hi,
I am a new comer in this group and this is my first read and entry. I instantly liked this page, for it reminded me of my 34 year old KB100. I was studying in Bangalore then, and this type of roads and this kind of road journeys I also took, with friends there. So nostalgic.
How do you keep it going so long? I had to sell off my bike for it was giving so much trouble in the end. How I miss it, still then.
Please keep me posted in your future travelogues.

One simple answer - affection and passion
2 stroke bike ownership will be an awesome experience only when we become 50% mechanics (Some say, the same is applicable for vintage REs as well) Nothing more than preventive maintenance and hands on experience in basic repair is required to keep them going.

Sure. I'm waiting for the better (or good old) days to come.
