A Day and a Night in Chamarajanagar Forest with fellow Bhpians...

This trip was a result of one that I had been on earlier… Tadu and the others wanted to go visit the places that I had posted pics of in my previous travelogue, hence started the planning.

We had to wait a long time to execute the plan as one weekend after the other something or the other used to crop up and we had to postpone this trip. Finally and in the last minute on 14th feb, we decided that we’ll leave the next day itself.

The Plan : Leave Bangalore on 15th evening and go to Chamarajanagar for night halt. Leave early morning on 16th and go to the forest, halt at the guest house there and leave to Mysore on 17th morning to watch the hill climb.

The Route : Bangalore – Mysore – Nanjangud - Chamarajanagar

The Trip :

15th Feb – Friday.

As decided we left Bangalore in the evening, Rahul and Rajiv came home to pick me up and we left to meet Tadu near Metro on Kanakapura Road. After travelling at a snail’s pace in the traffic in rajiv’s Peted Elantra, we reach Metro to find Tadu waiting for us. I hop into Tadu’s car and we take off with Rahul in Rajiv’s car. We took the NICE road to reach Mysore road where I saw the speedo touch 190, we could do that speed only at one place where the road was relatively empty with only the two peted elantras on the road ( that was the fastest we touched in the entire trip).

We reached Mysore and decided we’d have our dinner there and proceed to Chamarajanagar. Had dinner at The Ritz ( lovely dinner that was ) and left to reach C’nagar late in the night. There we met up with kb100 who had driven down from Coimbatore to join us for the trip. After an uneventful journey we reach my parents house there and after spending some time with my parents we decide to crash for the night.

16th Feb – Saturday.

Woke up in the morning, had breakfast and left for the forest… I’ll let the pics do the talking…

Finally the travelogue is up! I guess this is one of the most fun loving trips I have had with fellow Bhpians. Lots more to come.

Actually most of these roads were not motorable on our sedans, so we took a trax from Chamrajnagar. Regarding the baleno, its been 5 months since I last drove it. Just been too busy with work and more lazy to get the clutch changed on it.

After trekking around the place for sometime, we decided to head back to our guest house to have lunch as we also had to visit another place before it got dark.

On the way back, we visited the guest house we were supposed to stay at as originally planned, but since the cook and the caretakers were on leave, we couldnt stay here...

A wonderful guest house with a huge and beautiful lawn in the front.

After about half an hour, we reached our guest house and we had lunch there, after relaxing for a while we headed to the next sightseeing spot we wanted to visit. This place is reserve forest and is called JodiGere ( Jodi Kere ) meaning twin lakes or two lakes... This place is well known for the wildlife you get to see there, this time though we didnt get to see many animals as summer has begun and it was pretty hot. Best time to visit would be just after the monsoons as it'll be lush green all around plus you get to see a lot of wildlife here.

Trekking also is arranged here, its a one day, 13 km trek inside the forest...

After spending some time in the forest, we returned to our guest house to have some Absolut... by the Bonfire and then have dinner... We had a great time over the vodka thanks to the two drunk mallus with us... kb da db also managed to scare away the wild animals around our guest house i guess as we didnt see any in the night

After the booze, some noise and some dinner, we went to sleep. Got up in the morning, got ready and left to mysore to watch the hill climb. Reached Chamundi hills, saw runs by the bikers, trial runs of the cars, met some more Bhpians there and after spending some time there, we left to Bangalore. Had lunch at Fishland near Mysore ( lovely food we had ) and returned to Bangalore by evening...

All in all a wonderful trip.
Phew i'm tired now.
Thats it from me... shall wait for the other members who came for the trip to post something about the trip...
