ECR Images

The East Coast Road connects Chennai with Pondicherry and a little bit further South along the East Coast of TamilNadu. These images are from my most recent visit, about a fortnight ago.

Very beautiful photos Nickatnite. The road looks very well surfaced. The cloudy day would have made the going slightly easy for the bikers. I liked the last but one snap where the trees overhead seem to stretch to keep up with you as you speed along. Thanks for sharing.

I have traversed this road so many times than I can recall and its more of the serenity along the road than the road itself which is eye-catching.

Ajantha hotel looks nice (however it's not on ECR).

Nothing feels better than having a mug of chilled beer on its balcony, listening to the roar of the sea and enjoying the breeze!

I second your opinion!. The hotel is getting a renovation and it looked good. I have more pics of Pondy which i will post in this thread soon. The view of the sea from the Promenade Hotel is very inspiring.

Hey! Nothing wrong with Palavakkam!

But seriously, you have to go a bit further even, past the checkpoint at the Sholinganallur-road (becoming the new ECR/OMR Link) junction before it becomes better driving. Even then there are a few barriers and stuff that has to be slowed down for.

At first I thought it was about my Enfield Cafe Racer (ECR). Nevertheless, these roads are like a great benchmark. I hope all roads are made like this, it'd make travelling very interesting and entertaining.

2 lane road as benchmark . Ideal would be 6 lane. Atleast it must be 4 lane. This might be a good stretch. But not a benchmark by any stretch of imagination.

This road is a country road and not a highway. If one wants to take the highway to Pondicherry from Chennai, there's NH45. I think it's a great 'getaway from the rat-race' road that takes one through many scenic locales and green fields and the seaview is inspiring. I like the drive and i give this road a .
