This one day, one fine (for the same offence and same vehicle) is probably valid all over the country. I remember being fined once (my only violation of traffic rules, EVER) when I was in Delhi doing my masters, for over speeding and red-light jumping on my bike. I paid a fine of 500 bucks and the same evening was caught again for over speeding, showed the challan and was let off with a warning

You mean, if you pay a fine for speeding once, then you can continue overspeeding and still not get caught?

Edit: Just saw SumitB's post. Is it for real?

The road between walayar and wadakkanchery usually have some cops with radar guns. and chances of getting caught are worse on sundays.
we need a thread on which spots are favoured by speed gun wielding mallu cops.

the way things are going, cochin BHPians will have mapped out the highways soon.

Zak, you make friends really fast this way. Remember Tez?

That is a nice rate. You should have paid the fine in Kochi itself and then you could have really enjoyed the drive.

Replenishing fuel tank with passengers in the vehicle is a CRIME ??????

# 54 on that list!!

you might as well throw then entire country into the calaboose!!

And I see the vehicle is a Highway Patrol - are they not regular cops?

As per the laws ONLY Traffic Police or the MVD have jurisdiction on traffic related offences. Regular cops have the right only to check for ownership (to establish it is not a stolen vehicle) - look for contraband goods etc. At least this clearly used to be the case 5 years back UNLESS they have amended the laws since!

And how dare you compare a full blown, nicely carved, mini skirted east asian to a Khaaki clad, toddy potted, bless headed KP?

Travelogue coming up in some minutes.

Was the east asian 'full blown' before or after you met her? Didnt know you were trying to improve low-end pickup in DXB.

Then we carried on!

Date : 22, June, 2008.
Time : 10:15am
Venue : Cops' hunting grounds

After the cops drama, we had to make up for the lost time and reach on time for the Taalikettu. Now, with the more confident and assured feeling of the challan, it was a good drive then on!

We slowly pull in to Coimby. We had an in car navigation system in the form of a fatboy. He managed to get himself and get us confused to a good extent. QUICKSILVER was then called in to get us to the Kalyana Mantapam.

Date : 22, June, 2008.
Time : 10:45am
Venue : Avinashi road, Coimbatore.

We reach some junction and I suddenly hear all the 3 passengers in our car shouting: Hydra's car!! We manage to see the white Swifty whizzing ahead and we follow too. Within a minute, we are in front of Suguna Kalyana mantapam. We park next to the Swift. (pics will follow).
What follows inside is history.
