kaushik, You have good roads upto Kaimara (where you take left towards the Giris). After that the roads have deteriorated with large potholes and rough patches. If you have been here last year, be assured that there has been no improvement. Although the views totally make up for the bad roads

@ koushik, I dont know about u r trip plan. From Kaimara to Kalahatti to Kemendundi road is very good. Kaimara is just around 5-10 KM from Chikmagalur.
Ours was like this.
Day 1 - Chikamagalur- Kaimara - BBGiri-Chikamagalur
Day 2 - Chikamagalur - Kaimara - Kalahatti - Kemendundi - Bangalore
