All in all, very enjoyable but could dfinitely do without the horrendous Kurnool-ananthpur stretch that becomes even more dangerous through the night because of unmarked road endings as well as random traffic and stones littered on the road because of careless road construction.
Yes, kurnool-ananthpur stretch is very bad and dangerous. For me, It took almost 4.5 hours for covering this stretch ( around 160 KMs). In my case, I am the only one who can drive ..So no choice for a contiuous drive ...

hi sriswe,

nice log there.

The dam on day 2 is the stanley reservoir and dam??

On day 3, where exactly is the watch tower and those water falls.
I guess there are three checkposts, on TN and Kerala and later one near Chinnar.
So is this very near to the first check post of Kerala?

laluks, The dam is in Mettur, sorry I dont know the name ... After Chinnar forest area, there is a TN checkpost at the Border ( A bridge across a small stream), As soon as we enter Kerala, right after the bridge, there are 2 checkposts ( one on left side and the other on right side)..Watch tower is at the 2nd kerala checkpost....

Sorry for the long gap... Now, back to the log...

With lunch not filling our stomachs, we stopped at Marayoor Bus-stand and bought some fruits and filled up ourselves. By this time heavy winds stopped and weather was cloudy.I felt that road is much wider after Marayoor and was confidently driving..We passed through the Sandalwood forest. Wifey checks the printout and orders me to stop for every 10 mins. So after every 10mins, parked Indi in a relatively safe place, got down and enjoy the nature..We encountered many waterfalls enroute...Let the pics talk....

As we were nearing Munnar, there were many tea/coffee estates and the landscape turns to green everywhere.

Wifey examining the plants :-)

By 4PM, we reached Lakkam waterfalls (which is just before Eravakulam National park). Light rain started and we ventured out to the falls in the rain itself. Spent around 30 mins near the waterfall, had tea from a shop and continued...

Lakkam Falls:

At some places, the road becomes narrow and I was driving cautiously. When down hill, at most places, I was using either 2nd or 3rd gears and on Uphill used 1st or 2nd..Also, I never tried to look at the valley and concentrated only on the track. At one place an Auto was climbing and I was on down hill on the middle of the road at a turn. I could not notice the auto at the turn and stopped suddenly and then moved to left side..The auto guy was staring at me..I just smiled and said sorry..

Close to 5-30 PM, we reached Eravakulam National Park...
