Turtuk-Kanyakumari Solo Speed Run [9595Km] 12 days-

After this: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/route-...nball-run.html.

The trip is over. The run is done. Solo. Safari EX 4x4. 12 days+2hr30min
July 14th-26th 2010

I would like to thank team-bhp for the support. I say this each time I go on a trip but I wouldn't be at this juncture if not for team-bhp. Special thanks to hvkumar. You are my mentor and hero.
My gratitude to everyone who gave me directions and guided me when I posted my queries at team-bhp.

Photos that are allowable within the size limit at team-bhp have been attached. Since most of my shots are panoramic, they do not fit.

The video includes most of the stats, timings and distances covered.
I am in the process of writing a complete travelogue in the form of a book; from the day I decided to go on the trip, to buying the safari, to actually making it happen.

(The video is hosted on my own website. The punycode is for those who do not have Japanese fonts installed. Original link at 落とし噺.jp/video/dtrip.html . Do not use www. before the link.
Also, due to bandwidth constraints of hosting my own content, the link will be taken down soon. Full HD video available upon request. My email address is given in the video.)

The Run:

I wanted to drive from the northernmost point to the southernmost point of India as fast as possible.
Driving time:89hr50min Distance:4898Km
Total Time:119hr30min (5days)
The photo I have uploaded displays the specific details.

It is my hope that more people will be inspired to do this sort of run. I am sure my time can be beaten easily. If anyone you know has already done this run, please let me know, I would be excited to learn more.
If anyone wants to do this and needs some ideas, please feel free to ask me any questions on the pm at team-bhp or through the mail address on the video. (therun@xn--68j7a216t1i2b.jp)

*Maybe Turtuk is not the northernmost drivable point. I am not able to verify this, but if anyone has a confirmation, please let me know.

There is a mistake with the distance of the run in the original post. I do not see an edit button, hence this post. It should be 4698Km instead of 4898Km- correct Km readings are included in the final photo attached.

@NihilisticLogic I got 3 words for u "I Envy You !!!" What a road trip it would have been 4698 kms, travelling from the northern-most part of india to the southern most, conquered the highest motorable road in the world, 8 nights spent in the car, a burnt clutch and what not !!!

But if I would have been in your shoes I would have prefered it to be an endurance run, (may be something like a TSD rally) rather than a high speed one. Its not wise to make a speed run on the Indian highways.

Anyways kudos for your effort, and all let the story unfold.

Just like several others, I am hooked closely for so many reasons (Safari run, being one of them). Your spirit itself deserves the maximum rating 5*, though, even that is too little!
So, will you be posting story (at least in short) here too or it'll go only in the book?

Man this is great. You must have done double the distance! One to approach there and second: the actual drive! Congrats.

Fantastic, that is a great achievement. I am sure yours is an unique run because Turtuk opened to civilians only this year, and being the northernmost point that we can go in India, definitely yours is the record!

One record holder congratulates another one.

@NL: Awesome is the word. Would like to know a bit more about travel experience.

The only person who'll attempt to break your record is none other than HVK himself. You can't become complacent about your record as you'll shortly need to improve it

With Turtuk badly affected by the recent cloudburst in Ladakh, I doubt if anyone can replicate this run in the immediate future, at least not this year!

What is the purpose of this run? Is it for entering into Limca book of records or something like that? Appreciate to shed light on this pls.

Edit - Your pics are really panaromic & excellent. What's the gear?

The purpose of this run is purely to revel and give wings to the passion called driving I guess.

@Nihilistic. I wanted to ask this earlier too. Did you use a fish eye?
