Re: A quick trip to Shimla, Narkhanda and chail

Congrats!! Some nice pics!!

I am planning to do a bike trip to these places in the second week of April.
We would be visiting Narkanda, Shoja through Jalori pass and Naldehra on return. Hoping to see some snow.

How was the road conditions in the area?

Thank Rachit. Roads are bad from Kufri till Narkanda in patches. But bike trip shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks, Hatu Peak is around 9 kms from Narkanda and Narkanda is 65 kms from shimla.

Continuing with the log. Day 3, checked out be 9 am from hotel hatu. Our last destination was Chail. it was around 80 kms from here and have to take MDR 8.
On was Fagu and Kufri has fantastic valley views. Took some panas from there.
Reached Chail by 12 pm.

Pana shots of Narkanda from Hotel Hatu. Valley view enroute to Thanedar.

Re: A quick trip to Shimla, Narkanda and chail

Chail is a sleepy hill station with wide roads and almost empty when we were there. Cant say about peak season. We stayed at Hotel Ekant , it had a good valley view.
Places to see
1. Kali ka tibba
2. Cricket Stadium
3. Sidh baba ka mandir
4. Sadupul, riverside

We didn't visit Chail Palace as none of us was interested. Kali ka tibba has awesome view and the best place of the lot to visit. It will have beautiful sun rise and sunset view. When we visited , it has overcast and count see the sunset.

Some shots of Chail

Kali ka tibba at a hight of 7000+ feet, and drive of 8 kms. One can spend hours here. Beautiful place.

Thanks.

Continuing the log. Day 4 checked out of hotel headed back to home. En route we stopped over at Sadhu pur, its 16 odd kms from Chail towards Kahdaghat. Spent around an hour and headed back to base. Reached delhi by 5 pm. This brings an end to our trip.

Our original plan was also to visit Chhatbir zoo near Zirakpur but posponed for next time. I have heard this is a drive in zoo and to my surprise i didnt find any info or T-log here. Had anyone been to this zoo.

Video at kali ka tibba

Re: A quick trip to Shimla, Narkanda and chail

Hi v&v,

Nice quick trip planned, good use of time, excellent snaps. I liked the sunset and snow snaps the most.

I am sure you wouldn't mind if you find almost a repeat travelogue on this forum next year March!! Our daughter has been after me for going to see snow, and I don't think I need to think any further then your trip. Just one extra day would be needed from Lucknow for us, and we can easily repeat it, once kids exams get over next year!

Excuse me, but this seems to be a question from the previous century. After Google Earth and other imaging tools, this question appears obsolescent.

BTW, the airport was named something like Jubber hatti, and not just Jubbal. I flew from Simla to Kulu and that is what I remember, though it was in 2002.

Re: A quick trip to Shimla, Narkanda and chail

Hi
Amazing video of the drive up! - we were planning the same after the monsoons incidentally in a safari lx as well.. is this a one way road ? If not, how do you manage to let the traffic on the other side pass? The road seems extremely narrow.

Well you hope none comes from the opposite side!

Actually, you will hardly come across a vehicle after Kandhaghat turn-off for Chail. Plus its not narrow throughout - at places gets little wider too.
