Hey Pavan, its been three days and no post from you? Hope you have a wonderful time over there. :thumbs up |
Sorry guys,
There are so many photos taken by mobile cameras, digital cams, SLR's, its really tedious to spool all pics.
Right now, i am segregating pics day wise, might take a day or 2.
After which, i will start flooding this thread with pics and report..:D

@Pavan - One clarification. I am assuming that the kitchens were fully equipped but you had to bring your own consumables? So you had planned and taken all that stuff before hand?
Keep it coming i mean future updates and not the food. :D |
Yes, the kitchens were fully equipped , we had carried few stuff, but the vegetables were locally available there.

Pawan Saab, that's an amazing trip planned with the whole of the family in tow. I so yearn for a trip like this with my family. Only if all the wishes could be full filled. Enjoying your TL thoroughly. OT: Were all the elders comfortable travelling by road, especially for long distances? |
Thank you.
Its not tough to plan a trip. I found it easy as i am a DIY guy.
We approached 3 well known travel agents, but somehow things did not work out well with them (Their costing per head blew our tops off)
So Do It Yourself and its really easy.
With T-BHP and with People like HVK, and many others who have contributed in the making of this trip. I cant thank them enough....
About Travel by road, our Force Traveller was good, we had fantastic time keeping safe drivers, and we made sure, we did only day drives with enough breaks in between, and limited our drives for a max of 6-7 hours and 260 kms on any given day.
Everyone are hale and healthy, touch wood, even the kids continued with the same energy they started with.clap:
Pavan, this looks like a really well planned and executed trip. I am hooked.
Also, I would trouble you in a few days for the contact of the Ginger Hotels guys in Delhi. Ginger Rail Yatri Nivas is my regular hotel when in Delhi and their old manager it seems has been transfered. It would help if I can get some contacts from you, if it is not an issue.
Am hooked to this thread for now!
Hey Pavan
Congrats on the trip. With so many people on the tour it gets difficult for a DIY. But you have really pulled this one off.
Kudos to this 'logue.
Good to know that the trip went off as scheduled and all was was well.
Did you stay in Hadimba cottages (next to Hadimba temple) or at Log Huts? The latter is farther off and more expensive.
Any snow on the road between Kulu & Manali?
How bad were the roads so far in Shimla region and the Shimla-Manali drive?
No photos of the scenic Beas River after Pandoh Dam?

Pics are coming sir...... After a looooong holiday, work has taken the front seat, Tough to get back to work :Frustrati
Well, Manali was such a sight. Wah and WOW..... Its really exciting to witness Snowfall and Snow.... We could'nt ask for more.
Rohtang had received HEAVY Snowfall since the last 1 week and Chandertaal route too had some glitches as per locals, and sadly we had
to abort our trip there.
But Solang valley was supposedly the most happening place as per the Friendly Manager at HPTDCclap:
Off we go, One more thing......
WARNING TO FIRST TIMERS : Do hire the Boots and Suit, BUT NOT A SKI AND THE SKI GUIDE...... You will never learn Skiing in less than 6 months.
We selected our Sooot n Booot from a local shop at Rs.300/ head and headed to Solang, which is 30 minute journey from Hadimba Huts.
Enough of writing, ejoy the pics....
My Kid had a ball of a time, She freaked out more than anyone present at Solang....
Some more assorted pics,
HVK sir, the Beas River followed us and that route was Breathtaking by all Standards.:thumbs up Pics, will search all those Multiple folders and post soon.
I think, Manali will be done by us Again.. only for Chandertaal , Leh - Ladhak, and Rohtang.... Maybe 1 week trip sometime next year.:D
Love to do a Road trip, Holidays Dont permit.....
Honestly speaking, we could never get enough of Manali.
Solang, the Log-Huts, Snow all over around us. Most importantly the food. HPTDC too and Home madeclap:
As planned we headed towards Dharmsala.
Yet again, we had booked HPTDC - THE DAULADHAR
As per HVK sir, we were suggested to Visit Baijnath temple enroute.
We started our journey, Roads were good but few bad patches between Mandi and Joginder Nagar jolted us a bit for over 40 kms.
There was this eerie Tunnel we crossed for the second time after Manali. 3- 4 kms we dont get to see day-light and all sorts of eerie noises inside:D
We took 2 short breaks, and reached Baijnath temple by around 1:30, with HVK sir continuously guiding over FaceBook.
Went in for a Quick Darshan and by this time our stomachs were growling since we had an early and really SHORT breakfast.
On calling HPTDC they guided us to HPTDC Tea-Buds. which was 1 hour drive from Baijnath
Dharmsala - HPTDC Tea-Buds treated our Taste buds, really nice food.
Fantastic weather, and most importantly HPTDC Dauladhar is located at a Fantastic place.clap:
Wow! Amazing pics Kadamji. I just loved the pics of the Plane and wings. The ice pics are superb. I have always loved reading your travelogues. This one is amazing.:thumbs up
