That is a big crowd and your best crowd management and relationship skills are going to have to work to get them all up and running in what could be quite a cramped schedule, especially the Shimla-Manali day!

Pawan, one must commend the way you extensively researched this whole trip, and I am sure you will also list out the details of the hotels you booked yourself in. That is quite a database for anyone planning this circuit.

Hope you have a great holiday! Jai Mata di!

Looking for one great travelogue. Although I think you are too short on number of kids !!

Hey Pavan,

Wishing you a very Happy Journey. Bon Voyage. Would be following this thread for regular updates.

Need to check with your younger bro how did he manage such a long leave in Infosys :D

Hi Pawan,

Good luck with your vacation. Your planning has been pretty immaculate and comprehensive so I am pretty sure your holiday will go without any glitch.

But just incase you need any help in Jaipur, do let me know

Regards

Thank you Deky,

I was referred to you by a T-BHP member. But before which i had already paid my advance amount for booking at "THE MOSAIC-Jaipur", but will certainly make sure i meet you once i am there.

Well....... HPTDC is certain to take car of us for the first 4 days.

Our next leg of journey is Jammu , Vaishnodevi... (The sole reason for our trip)

And ..... Trust me, finding an accomodation at Katra was even more difficult.

We wrote to the Shrine board, they confirmed accomodation at a very low price, but warned, its not mandatory that you get the accomodation, the shrine board has its will and wish to withdraw the booking:Shockked:. We put a full stop there. Instead we got to book all the Yatra Parchi for the day we were supposed to do the darshan. Everything was Online and made things very easy.

We also went and booked PAWAN HANS Helicopter to cater to our darshan at a reasonable price

1) 11 Adults @ 2500/- per head 2 way.
2) 2 kids @ 1250/- per head 2 way.

Now somehow while browsing, i came across a site called "Jammu hotels"

This led us to a very nice Hotel called "HOTEL ASIA SRIPATHI"

Hotel Asia Shripati, Katra (Vaishno Devi) 182301 (J&K)
Tel : (01991) 233264, 232399*
Fax : (01991) 233366
Asia Hotels..........Asia Hotels

Contact people Mr. R S Nag /Mr. Awasthi, Very friendly people, Gave me a good discount, Prices below.

5 Double A/C rooms @ Rs. 2000/- per room, per day.

So Katra, Jammu also is done.

I was amazed, on how expensive it can get to get a glimpse of God.....Blame it on .KARMA...............................

Well, after Katra, we are headed towards Amritsar.

The sole purpose of travelling to Amritsar is the 2 great pieces of History on these places "WAGAH BORDER" and JALLIANWALA BAGH"

And of-course, The famous GOLDEN TEMPLE . Also importantly ,i am invited there to meet few of my VW Community guys:D

Luckily one of them in the community referred me to the said hotel:

Rahul Mehra | General Manager
Hotel Sapphire
Opp. Shri Guru Gobind Singh N.R.I Yatri Niwas
Amritsar - 143001 ( PUNJAB )
M : +91-95924-50270
Hotels in Amritsar, Amritsar Hotels, Golden Temple, Hotels near Golden Temple

I got 5 A/C rooms at Rs. 1400/- per room per day with complimentary Breakfast.

That was a super deal to beat, and its close to the Golden Temple too.

Just before reaching Delhi, we are having a short stop over at Chandigarh.

For 2 reasons,

1) My brother's Infy campus has provided us 5 rooms, and folks wanted to see the Asia's biggest Rose Garden

2) I am again meeting up with some more VW community guys and few T-BHP'ians also. I might join them on the Classic & Vintage car rally and probably get to drive my friends Beetle........

Well.

All the bookings went super smooth.

DELHI - Delhi woes continued to plague us, almost all the 8 hotels we located gave us fancy high prices.

All my troubles for Delhi Accomodation booking has earlier been discussed on the below thread.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/route-...-ready-go.html

By this time, i had got a lot of responses from T-BHP and other people i know.

HVK and many members gave me leads to our T-BHP member Varun aka Vkochar. Varun was more than happy to have us there.

So with almost all the accomodation booked, we were still in deep trouble with Delhi not helping us out. I was wondering whats wrong with the capital..

2 weeks of misery and suddenly i realised "Ginger Hotels" But those guys are damn smart, the bookings were not open untill 15th of March. I called up a good friend working at Ginger Goa. He gave me few numbers to call and on 2nd March, Ginger Hotels were booked.:Cheering:

Ginger Hotel,
Rail Yatri Niwas
New Delhi Railway Station (Ajmeri Gate Side)
New Delhi–110002

5 rooms were booked @ Rs. 1400/- per room per night

So we are all set to Goooooooooooooooo..............

Ginger Hotels

The D-Day arrives.

Every room i go, i only see packed bags :)

There is lot of excitement around the house. Hope we will be able to cope with the loooooong journey ahead....

Totally rivetting thread! We have been discussing a trip up North for ages and hopefully get inspired by you and finally get down to it! Keep posting...

Wishing you and your family a great time Pavan. I wish each and everyone traveling with you had a camera. We would get lots of diff perspectives of everything! Hmmm so, what kinda security have you arranged to guard those precious wheels? :D Might be helpful tips for certain auto nuts contemplating a career change lol:.

Hi Pawan,

Thanks for sharing such a valuable Hotel information. This would help a lot of Team-BHPians. Wishing you a very Happy & safe Journey. Would be following this thread for regular updates

Good luck with your vacation.

My pleasure, all this happened only due to help from T-BHP.....

All excited and looking forward for the BIG BREAK, none could catch sleep.

Also my extended long hours at office , i could reach home only by 10 pm.

Our Indigo flight was scheduled to depart at 6:00am. Since we had 18 bags and 3 families to haul, our local transport guys reached the first pick-up point by 1:00am.

We were scheduled to be picked up by 3:30 am.

We reached our BIAL by 4:15 am. with almost 2 hours to kill, we were surprised after we get a call from Indigo saying "check-in counter is open, please check-in 1 hour prior" anyways, high on excitement, we check-in and by 5:20am we were boarded into the plane.

Amazing pics dude. Especially the Plane wing pics. I have always enjoyed reading your travelogues. Waiting for the next report and detailed pics of the Plane.:)

Rated 5 Stars.:thumbs up

The Family Snap outside the airport looks really sharp. As HVK sir said, it would have been real skill/effort on your part to co-ordinate and pull all of them together.

But that is where the whole fun is!
