Look for rim width calculator at http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible.html
...it gives the options for a Skoda (195/65 R 15 I guess) from 5.5 to 7.0 inches...so you are well within the prescrobed width here...

Reason OEMs are fitting bigger and bigger wheel/tires is so that they can fit bigger brakes.

another reason for looks.

Ride will deteriorate due to higher unsprung mass and stiffer sidewall.

For indian conditions, FE and ride quality rule....not to mention cost. So, the companies are justified in what they are offering. Enthuiast community like us has different requirements and in no way represent the majority.
