Thanks for the reply. I called them up. They sadly don't do repainting.

OT: I sent my contact details on the yahoo mail ID I found on your profile.

Re: Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists - India

I recently got two of my alloy wheels done from Mr. Sai Alloy Wheels in Pune. The person charged Rs. 1800/- for each wheel. (Alternative was to either buy at cost of Rs. 11k per rim from Fiat, or to buy 4 new after market alloy rims at about Rs. 23k.)

He had an equipment that allowed a very large force to be exerted on part of the wheel to bend it back to shape. In case the bend is too much, he would heat the that part of wheel with industrial gas torch, and it would immediately become somewhat "soft" and could be bent easily. Most important, he had simple techniques to ensure that the wheel is 100% back to its original shape (done by rotating and checking the play).

In all, I was quite satisfied, and both the wheels could take the tubeless tyre without any problem.

(Of course, there is another of discussion on team-bhp saying it is a bad idea to get the alloy wheel corrected like this; it may develop additional stresses.)

Re: Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists - India

The Inner side of Rear Left Alloy Wheel in our Elite i20 got bent. Our Father was chauffeured-driven and he says that the car did not travel over any pothole and it is manufacturing defect.

I enquired at Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists based in Thane over phone and the person requested to send the photo of damaged alloy wheel over whatsapp to detect whether it can be repaired or not.
I sent the photos to him. He gave me an estimate of Rs.4400/- including Pickup-and-Delivery to my doorstep.
Around 2000-2500 goes for Courier Charges and similar for Repairs. He further told me that they will repair the wheel on the day they receive the rim from courier and try to send it back the same day if possible. The Courier Service used will be Bluedart. He told me to pack the wheel (only Rim) in a smallest box possible to avoid huge courier charges.

The photos of damaged alloy wheel-

I have not enquired the rate of New Alloy Wheel at dealership. Any idea of cost of same?

BTW, is it a manufacture defect?
Should I go for repairs at above repair Specialist?

My father does a trip to Mumbai every week or fortnight. So he can drop the rim for repairs and collect the same after repairs.

EDIT: - The person at AWRS asked me on which alloy wheel was this damage. When I told Rear Left, he was surprised that the front tyre escaped and how come rear tyre got damaged.

1) Try to approach any known tyre shop/Car Scrap Markets or Dealers for procuring a single alloy wheel and you might just find one.
2) Inquire about the cost of one alloy at the Service centre. This is the safest bet.

Repairing an alloy wheel isn't favourable, though it might be the cheaper thing to do, it is certainly not the Safest.

The wheels/tyres are the only contact that you have with the Road, everything else in the car is dependent on them including you. Take a call.

Re: Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists - India

I had checked with my Hyundai Dealer. He quoted me Rs.11798/- for a Single Alloy.

My father has agreed to drop the wheel at AWRS, Thane when he visits Mumbai next time. Then the repairs would cost around Rs. 2000-2500/-.

I would like to take a chance and check whether an Alloy can be repaired or not though the cost is a little bit on higher side.

Re: Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists - India

Guys looking to visit this place, Please read below!

Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists - India-img_3076.jpg

I visited them yesterday & i out being impressed of how good my anger management skill has improved that i din't even touch any of them with my bare hands!
One of my front alloy of the bimmer is slightly bent, Around 5%, Even though i don't have any issue while driving, Still i decided to check with the soo called "Specialist", Went down to their place (Which is located in thane) The road started getting shady by each moment i kept driving, & it continued till i reached their place,

I reached their gate and honked, No one opened, After a few minutes i was asked to leave the car on the road outside the gate itself and they asked me to sit in the cabin, After waiting for 10 minutes upon asking what now? They took the keys and asked me to be seated at a specific place only while they take my car inside the compound, Upon asking for a reason why i cannot be with the car they simply said customers are not allowed, Like really? Ill just sit inside a box and let these people handle my car? God knows what would they do or how would they? Still i agreed and waited for 15-20 minutes, That's when i lost my cool!

I simply asked them i have to see what is being done with the car & after reaching near the car they tell me your car doesn't have the spot which is required to lift the car up on the machine? Like what?

Upon asking for the manager a cheaply dressed guy himself agreed he is the manager and owner & there is no one else to talk to & he again pointed me towards the waiting room & asked me to go in there & wait while they "Check" my vehicle, Honestly i was visiting them the first time & this is really not how you should gain one customers trust, I simply blasted at them with all my voice & unwantingly created a scene, Their place was totally deserted with no one there, All of the guys there was acting very strange and weird.

I am glad i did not let them touch my car & came out on time, Trust me when i say this that those guys were weird & shady, They really had no manners how to treat or handle a customer, Their claims seems to be all false, Considering what i saw was a deserted place, They were acting as if they were hiding something very very precious & i was there in my 530d to steal that from them or what??

Stay away guys, Use them at your own risk!

Re: Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists - India

I hope, it is okay with the mods for me to bump this thread.

I have a very unique problem with my car's alloy, which I have not yet heard from anyone to have. For most, either a good quality buffing, painting, machining or chrome treatment does the job. I have a 2002 manufactured Lancer SLXD LE (yes, in this modern times, I am still sticking with my Lancers, which are two in numbers), which has the lovely OE alloy wheels from factory. These alloys have a layer, more like a wrap having laser cut finish on them, which from far away gives a chrome effect, but they are not actually chrome finished and doesn't look bling. Unfortunately over the time, they have gathered too many scars and I am not being able to find a single such specialist, who can help me restore these alloys to its original form. Here in Bangalore, I tried with one of the shop called A1 tyre center, who were very confident about their work, but ended up completely ruining the alloys beyond repair by changing the surface geometry/shape of them. I am yet to find a specialist who can really restore my cars alloys to their factory finish. Any help will be really appreciable.

Image upload feature is failing as of now, however, I will try to post few pics of the alloy in question again.

Any help would be really great. I could not find any shop in Bangalore to be really called specialist in alloy wheels repair and I am open to options outside Bangalore/anywhere in India, if they can really restore them to original spec.

Hi,
Does anyone know of any good alloy repair shops in Kochi or the surrounding areas? The rains have gifted me with quite a beautiful dent on one of my rims.

I tried A1 car care and while they did a good repairing one buckled wheel to round, I believe the wheel lost its strength in the process of being heated up and repaired. This led to another big bend later on on hitting a pothole that I don't think should have bent the wheel in the first place. I ended up replacing all 4 wheels just for my peace of mind.

My advice would be to get all your wheels exchanged with non-OE ones, as the charge for repairing all 4 would be in the 8-10K range, while you may be able to exchange them for replacement ones for a little bit more money, but a lot more peace of mind.
