My Swift: With new Alloys and Tires

Hey guys!

Check out my new rims and tires!!!

Okay, so I stay at chennai and I visited this guy Majestic in Egmore. Didn't impress me much, especially considering the way all the alloys were stacked in boxes on top of each other in the pavement outside his shop! talk about the first impression.

so i decided to take a short drive to bangalore to do the work. started early mornin at 4am, and reached by 9 am. Visited sprocket, hott tracks, and another store whos name i forgot. Sprocket quoted a set of 5 LENSO wheels as Rs.24500 and he recommended goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires. These he said, were Rs.5800 each! I thought that was a little high. So i decided to take a look at Hot Tracks just to see what kind of collection hes got, not really to buy. But I soon changed my decision as he quoted the SAME set of lenso wheels at Rs.21k for a set of 5 and the SAME Goodyear GS-D3's at Rs.5000 each!!! I had a rough idea of the prices of other stores, so I decided to take the plunge and fix it with him. He also took the old tyres at Rs.750 each (a little less i guess), but they had done 1000 kms hehe. and oh, btw, I got some negative feedback on Yoko ES100 tires from a friend of mine in bangy. Apparently the tires are great, but they dont last more than 20-25k. So decided to go with goodyear, even though they were more expensive. hope i dont regret it

Anyway, I also fixed G-Sport Art Leather seats at Rs.5k as well, and they are really nice - short of the real thing, ofcourse

okay so here are the specs:

15 inch Lenso Wheels, Hyper Silver finish, Set of 5 : Rs.21k
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 195/55ZR15 : Rs.5k each.

Yes i know the tires OD difference is 3.9%, but I dont think its a big deal, after all, I did survive the trip back from bangalore to chennai what say, theMAG?

Final thoughts on the tires: very good grip levels, low noise. Dealer claims that they will last atleast 40-50k kms!!! we'll see! so overall definitely recommended. dont hurt that they look cool too

Final thoughts on the rims: Not really the WOW factor i wanted, but still like them.

Final thoughts on the Hot Tracks (Bangalore): I read some posts on the forum about his attitude and his sky-high prices. Well the attitude bit is about right (but not THAT bad), and the prices seemed to be reasonable to me. I would recommend going to him if the prices are okay. It always comes down to that, doesn't it?
Oh, and here are some pics. Kindly excuse the bad quality, they were taken with my mobile. And sorry for the awfully long review. A special thanks to theMAG, nitrous, Rudra Sen for replyin to my pm's. thanks!

Congratulations, bro. Looking at the profile, i think even 16 inchers with 50 or 55 profile will take our roads.

thanks edmund!

hari_rama: i am getting an average of 12kmpl so far. And i'm NOT the ones who drive slow (if you know what i mean)! lol

nitrous: all dealers i spoke to recommended only 45 profiles with 16 inchers. didnt want to go so low, so went with 15 inchers and 55 profile. yes I was aware of GTO's thread on the GSD3s. I had searched the entire net for reviews, and i didnt see many negative reviews on the tire except GTO's. I believe this is a one off issue. Well hope i am not proved wrong after 10k kms!
will keep you guys posted on the condition of the tires. For now, they are fantastic!!!

Hey suppose if u replace the regular 15" alloys with 17 inchers..is it safe? U get the look but is it acceptable for the Swift?
