This is an interesting observation. The lag in your friends car is obviously not related to the tires, so there could be some other not yet diagnosed issue that is causing this problem.

Congratulations on the new car and a good decision to go with the Primacy 4ST. If I might ask, what influenced your decision towards the Primacy 4 ST away from other products like say the MRF Perfinzas?

Also how was the experience with New Bharat tire shop? I might have to upgrade the tires on one of my parents cars soon.

The reason for choosing 4 ST was simple, way back in 2010 soon after i purchased the Honda city, had changed the tyres to Primacy LC 195/60 R15s. There has been no looking back since then. That one ran for around 54k
and was later replaced by Primacy 3STs of the same configuration.

I always enjoyed the comfort, the ride quality and the awesome grip these tyres provided and so when Honda Jazz came my way, the brand and model decision on tyres was very easy though I did check on the MRF Perfinzas as it was also recommended by fellow bhpians.

I compared the rates of Primacy 4STs at multiple shops, almost all of them gave not so different rates so chose New Bharat , more so because i live like 100 yards from the shop :)

Only someone who has used a set of each for a considerable period of time can answer that correctly. I'm not sure if we have someone on TBHP who has done that!

Excellent Choice! Do keep us updated on how these tires perform as these are new and still not much real world feedback on these as yet.
My current car, the City runs on the XM2s and I have done 48K so far, will mostly go for the Primacy 4ST when the time for tire change comes - mostly in a year from now.

Did anyone in this group tried upsizing from 15' to 16' and opt for 185/55 R 16 83V tires. If so let me know the brand you opted for and how good is it ride post upgrade.

It seems 195/60 R15 is best fit in terms Jazz tyre upgrade. And, although my current stock tyres would last atleast an year, I still have a couple of questions
1. Other than increase in weight and probable decrease in fuel economy and power, mechanically can there be any reliability/safety issues e.g. faster suspension wear,etc
2. Would there be changes in stock recommended tyre pressure?

After some research and contemplation (And budget checks) went ahead with Michelin Energy XM2 195/60 for my jazz. Got them for about 6k per piece.


The ride height is largely unchanged. The handling is definitely better.


Noticed a very slight improvement in mid range acceleration. Also, as of now these feel a tiny bit harder than the previous set of B250 I had.

Time to upgrade my Jazz CVT tyre. I want to upsize it to 195/60.
Can someone please tell what happens to the speedo reading? Also, will there be a change in odometer calculation?

Using this calculator, if one upgrades from 175/65R15 to 195/60R15, difference in circumference is 20.42 mm which is 1.07%.

So when your speedo reads 50kmph, you're actually travelling at 50.535kmph.
Also, if your odo reads 10000km, you have actually traveled 10107km.

Just wanted to update that my Yokohama S Drive 195/60 R15 has done just about 21000 KMs and is due for replacement. Had changed to these tyres as soon as the car was bought new. There is no alignment problem or undue/uneven wear or anything out of ordinary. It's just poor tyre life ,that's all.

I feel that this is rather poor tyre mileage given that this car is 70% driven within city limits and at low speeds.

Considering MRF Perfinza same size now, getting quotes of Rs.5400/- ,each.

That is unusually low Tyre life!! Could you please share a few pictures of your Yokohamas?

I agree with Geo_Ipe, that is very unusually low tire life for the S drives. I own a 2015 Jazz and upgraded to the S Drives 195/60 R15 on day 1. Ive covered over 26,000 kms and the tires have quite a bit of life left. It mostly has usage in the city with say 10-15% overall highway drives. I will share some pictures tomorrow.

But all considered, the MRF Perfinzas are a great option going by overall feedback. Do let us know your experience with the MRFs. I too am planning on switching to the Perfinzas once my S Drives wear out.

Here is how the S drives look with close to 28,000 kms on the odometer. One of the tires was replaced due to damage caused by a metal rod sticking out onto the road while I was parking. So that one is probably 20,000 kms in.

Those S drives can be used further but they become a lot more noisy and uncomfortable at that point. We bought one set for a Swift and regretted it after about 20K kms, it was grippy , a bit stiff and a bit of a drone when new , but the noise became progressively worse as it aged, it joined the chorus along with the rattly interior bits.

Michelins XM , Primacy and Continental MC5 are the current favorites for Sedans and Hatchback vehicles. Select them based on available sizes, we had the luxury of swapping out the wheels to suit the right tire based on tire size availability.

I have nothing against other brands, I just found these to be the most suitable, MC5 in particular, we have bought 3 or 4 sets already.

Planning to upgrade tyres of my 2012 Jazz whenever the lockdown ends. After going through this thread and other tyre threads on the forum, I'm confused between the following as I'm somewhat of a noob here stupid:. Appreciate any inputs on this:
1. Michelin XM2+ or Primacy
2. MRF Perfinza
3. Continental MC5
4. Yokohama Earth-1 or BluEarth

Only thing which seems to be clear is to upsize to 195/60 from stock 175/65 getting better ride quality and increased GC.

I live in Bangalore and given the current road conditions, would prefer going for better durability rather than performance. Also, driving is mostly in the city and less than 5k per year.
