Mitsubishi Pajero Sport : Tyre & Wheel Upgrade

hi,
my last post had spelling mistakes so apologies.

Am looking to upgrade my White Pajero sport's tires and rims. The standard tire size is 265/65/R17.

1. Had a choice of keeping 17" Rims with the following tire choices:-
275/65/R17
or
275/70/R17
But I have been reading that "70" instead of "65" will affect mileage and stability.
Please advice. Also on tires.

2. Should i get 18" instead of 17"

Thanks looking forward to your inputs.

265/65 R17 is a big enough size. It already offers healthy grip. Personally, I would stay with this rubber. Choose a good tyre (in the same size) based on your preferences. There's lots available in the 10 - 12K range.

Please don't! You're looking at an increase in sidewall height of over 20 mm! That'll bring more body roll, taller gearing and possibility of the tyre scraping against the insides.

I wouldn't. 17 is anyway big enough, 18 will compromise your ride quality. Plus, going by your earlier posts, you drive a lot in the rough. 18" rims will be more susceptible to damage than 17" (due to smaller sidewalls).

Thank you, that was pretty much what I had thought. You just convinced me. Going to be in delhi next week. Will be trying some 17" alloys. Spoke to the distributor of lenso linking forward to that. Also short listed hankook a/t.
Any insights?

265/65-17 doesnt have many options in 10-12k. It is a lot more expensive.

But do look around the markets and see various options from Hankook, Bridgestone, Dunlop Grand Trek, Michelin, Yokohama and take a call.

Used tyres for Pajero Sports in Kolkata

My Pajero Sports is clocking 96,000 kms of fun driving after 6 years. 2 years ago, at around 60,000kms, I changed the original tyres for a set of 4 probably Thailand made USED Dueller AT. Shop owner came to me through a source, and was reliable. Promised 30,000 kms for the used tyres. Cost around 16k for a set of 4. New Yokohoma tyre costs 14.5k for just one, and runs 50-60,000 kms. My tires did 36000kms and are going to give up before my car clocks 1 lakh kms.

The finances don't make sense.

So I am in the market for a set of used tyres 265/65/17, for my car.

Anybody know a dependable shop selling used tyres, preferably in the northern part of Kolkata, along the Bypass area, maybe? If a shop in another part of the city is strongly recommended, I will go, no big deal.

Kind regards
SDey
