Been quite a while now since my scorpio has needed new tyres.
Have been strongly suggested the Mrf Zvrl. What are the other choices i have in the 4-5k range.
Current stock tyres are 235/15/don't remember the profile, what are the other tyre sizes i could look at without fearing a negative change in the not-so-good ride quality of a scorpio keeping in mind the car has already done almost 52k.

i might just be getting the tyres tomorrow, 27th august. would appreciate quick replies :)

I would reccomend Michelin , I had them on my scorpio until i sold the vehicle off had done 40k with them, and beleive me they looked like they could go another 30 k easily , was very particular with rotation . alignement etc

size was 235/75/R15 ,tubeless tyres had exchanged them when I bought the vehicle, should cost you approx 4800 per tyre

actually i was thinking of gettin 255 s, and the michelins are around 6500 a pice compared to the 4-4.5 of goodyear/bridgestone/mrf zvrl/hankook.
just wondering if that extra 2k a piece is really worth it considering my car would not be around two years from now.

would 255 s affect the ride quality, make it more/less bumpy a ride?
also all the above mentioned tyres are tubeless and somewhere on the forums i have read using tubeless tyres with stock steel rims could be an issue if the wheels are slightly bent, true?

manson.

255/65-15 is good upsize....n I would suggest MRF ZVRL.....

But not on steel rims...that too a SUV never pls avoid....

Manson, My endeavour came with the MRFs. The car is nearing 60k and tyres are still looking good for much more. Have had no issues with the tyres, they have been on the worest of roads and the best of them too.
I wouldnt recommend 255 upsize coz ur gonna feel the drag for sure.

i'm glad i did not have time yesterday. i have a few more days till the weekend to decide on the size and brand.

kpzen: just to clarify by steel i mean stock rims, so i should not run 255 s on steel rims? why??
sahil i thought that 255 s could possibly help improve the bumpy ride, any idea guys?

manson.

MA(n)SON, Am using the MRF's on my company Scorpio and you know the kind of usage I have... 6000km's so far.. not a HINT of trouble... go for em dude!

what size are those 2l8?

manson.

I second that on the MRF's. I was really surprised with their performance in comparision to the OE Bridgestones the Scorpio came with.

The MRF's are more silent, far more comfortable and feel really secure.

manson.

Any idea whats the rim size of scorpio 15x?J ????

Running a +20mm tyre on stock rims will make the tyre bulge out n the area of compression for the rubber is reduced....Hence ride quality will only decrease..

have you considered the 255/70/R15 Goodyear Wrangler AT/R ?? It has a pretty neat tread pattern and I had them fitted onto a scorpio just last night. Can put up pics for you if you want.

Not a good upsize considering 3.94% difference in circumference

Hi all,

Have been a member for quite sometime, but didn't have the time to post.

I have recently bought a 2004 Scorpio which has clocked 50000 Kms,running on 265/75R15 upsize tyres.

However,it looks its time for a change of tyres for my beast, have been around the market and shortlisted a couple of options, need your feedback on the same.

Pirelli Scorpion 235/70R15, Rs.4800/- per tire
Michelin Discoverer 255/70R15 Rs.6500/- per tire
Goodyear Wrangler 255/70R15 Rs.6200/- per tire
Bridgestone Dueler 235/75R15 Rs.5200/- per tire.

All the above options are tubeless and includes fitting & alignment charges.

pls advice.
