are there any brands which should be avoided??? what are the reasons???

do some brands crack easily? what are the reasons???

As far as the Indian brands go, there are only a few renowned manufacturers I know.

Aura Alloy Wheels: Hindalco Group

Neo Wheels

Traxx Alloys made by Synergies Dooray

2nd hand alloys..hmmm i wud say a strict no-no. just becoz the rims and tyres are the most important things connecting ur car 2 to the ground.

i wudnt compromise on this.

cheers

Dont ever purchase 2nd hand alloys. If you know the guy who is selling his alloys then probably its Ok, but still i would suggest you not to.
why do you want to take chances and screwup ur tyres, suspension, drive shafts bcoz of damaged alloys..

Hey Aadix,

Technically, you would need to make sure that the PCD of the alloy is exactly the same as that of the car you plan to put it on. And also that the offset it very similar.

Regarding the safety of the alloys, i guess the only easy way you could check is to check around the rims for signs of the alloy taking a beating.....
but ONLY buy them if you trust the guy and the reason he is selling them.

cheers

Aadix,

Even if you know the seller, do take them down to a tyre shop that you know really well. Ask them to check it, hardly a hundred bucks or two but this job is best left to the professionals.

just jack the car up, mount the mag-wheel & spin it, if it wobbles then they are useless, otherwise will be fine, check for cracks and bends, by running your fingers in & outside the rim
