Tyres for Mercedes GL350

I need some help here.

I own a Mercedes GL 350 with 275/55r19 Dunlop Sport Maxx. However, they have done about 27k in 4+ years and regular punctures have forced me to look for replacement for all 4 tires.

I saw Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV tire online. And asked my dealer for it. However he is suggesting that I go in for Michelin Latitute Sport as it is MO certified.

My car is out of warranty now & I need comfortable tires with Grip for high speeds on expressway runs.

Which ones should I go in for?

Thanks

Rishi

re: Tyres for Mercedes GL350

Hi Rishi,

I have been using Latitude sport on my Q5 and they're the best I've tested till now. I had checked more about the Pilot sport suv tires and only read good reviews about them and as they're sportier variant among the two, so the grip will be much better. although, LTS has been quite reliable with no punctures in two years and 50k kms, I'm going to opt for Pilot Sport myself this time.

Have used Michelin Latitude Sport for close to 75K on the Yeti, will say, its a nice tire and does all things well.

If I am not mistaken, Pilot Sport 3 or Latitude Sport 3 is Mercedes Original fitment. I have got one of these on my X5 Last Year and can definitely recommend these over anything else. Will check in a while and confirm what exactly did the guy supplied as I can't find the pictures. These are noiseless tyres with excellent grip, though I am not sure about life. I am sure Pilot Sports 4 will be even better but can be a challenge to find these. I have a guy who does import and can recommend should you need any help. He got me BF and also new 20 inch alloys/ tyres for 740. Sometimes, it's cheaper and easier to get a set of alloys and tyres as importing as a set is relatively easier.

I got Michelin Latitude sport only. My dealer had both with bill and warranty from Michelin India.

He said the latitude sport will definitely have a better ride quality that either the Dunlop O.E. tires and the Michelin Sports 4 SUV tires.

Been driving for 2 days now and the ride quality has improved a lot.

The Pilot Sport 4 would have been a tiny bit stiffer, with more noise than the Latitude. Moreso noticeable after 10-15k kms. I think you made a good choice, I have used Latitude Sports in the past and they were excellent.

Yes they are pretty silent, new tires plus softer compound.

I think you made a good choice.

Also, I am not sure if the PS4 SUV is available in your size. Usually the manufacturers wouldnt bring in two or more models in the same size, especially in these high end sizes.

Do keep us updated on your experience with these tyres.

Re: Tyres for Mercedes GL350

Michelin India has removed Latitude sport altogether from their website, in my size (275/55 R19).

They are only offering Pilot sport 4 SUV tires.
https://www.michelin.in/auto/browse-...sion/275/55/19

Have done about 500 kms till now on the new tires.
Much silent ride & has better absorption than the O.E. Dunlops. So, I believe my tire guy (BK Tyres) was correct.
