No availability of 195/50 R16 size tyres in India?

I am in the market for 195/50/R16 size of tyre and even after contacting UM tyres distributor (Mumbai), Momo distributor (Chakra, Delhi) I have failed to find anyone selling that size although both of them list that size on their online pages. Same story with Tyremarket.com. I can only find this size with a merchant overseas, and with the recent amendments in Govt regulations of tyres, I don't want to go down that road. Any assistance in this regard? Thanks

An unusual tyre size for sure. Which car do you want to fit these tyres on?

On A Ford Figo 1.5 Ti-VCT (2016).

After much pondering, I have decided to settle for 16 inch wheels for my wheel upgrade plan. (currently on stock 14 inch wheels running on 185/65/R14)

Now for this the available size starts at 195/55/R16 which in my opinion is a bit too much tyre height for the Figo and I question wether the wheel well can accommodate such a tyre size without slight interference with the fenders in case of travels over rough roads on stock suspension.

If I want lower profile, the next available size is 205/45/R16 which is again a bit too much tyre (laterally) and too little sidewall for the Figo for a daily use car.

In case you're wondering, I am not alone in this specific tyre demand. Ford Ka Mk3 owners in Brazil are one such example where the tyre size of 195/50/R16 is pretty common, as I have noticed the same being in one such Whatsapp group of Brazilian owners. The size really is perfect for anyone willing to go for 16 inch wheels in case of a Figo/Ka+ .

You talk about upgrading to 16 inch wheels and 50 sidewall height but at the same time mention fears of rough roads? I think it might be best to stick to 15inch rims in our country because you definitely will not be able to find a feasible low profile 16inch tyre option in our country as there are no cars out there that require low profile 16inch tyres and hence no manufacturer that would opt to offer it.

Haldar, I think that's a terrible idea and agree with Ishaan. Get 195s on 15" rims. Will be cheaper, with better availability, you'll have superior ride comfort & all the grip you'll ever need.

I'd strongly recommend no aspect ratio less than 60 in this country.

Be content with 195/60R15 which is more than enough as an upgrade.

I guess I'll live much more peacefully if I settle for the 15 inchers on 195 rubber. Thanks guys 👍
