Yokohama launches next-gen Geolandar Xtreme all-terrain tyres in India

Yokohama has announced the launch of two new all-terrain tyres – the Geolandar X-AT and Geolandar M/T G003, in India.

The Geolandar X-AT is positioned between ‘All Terrain’ and ‘Mud Terrain’, and is said to offer superior traction and stability on both paved roads and off-road trails.

The Geolandar M/T G003 has been designed for loose terrain (mud and slush), offering better traction and control in off-road conditions. The tread pattern has been designed to enable drivers to take on muddy trails, steep inclines and rough terrain.

According to Yokohama, both tyres offer enhanced wear and side-cut resistance. This has been achieved with a new compound and sidewall design, improving the lifespan and reducing the risk of punctures or damage.

The Geolandar X-AT and Geolandar M/T G003 meet the general specifications required for off-road use. All sizes come with an M+S rating (Mud and Snow) and a Rim Protector for added protection against curb damage and abrasions.

Re: Yokohama launches next-gen Geolandar Xtreme all-terrain tyres in India

I am waiting for reviews to come up for these models in websites like tyrereviews.com. The Yokohama Geolander AT G015 that I currently use on my XUV500 is great. I had used the G015 on my previous SUV as well. These will be my goto choice for replacement / future SUV.

Will have to check on the road noise part the performance of these tyres. Will wait till folks use these for a couple of years before considering.

Oh good. I just changed the tyres for my Scorpio N. I should have waited a couple of more months so that I could have bought these.

Excellent.. It's about time to take the ridiculous pricing and monopoly out from the unorganised sector. The tread pattern looks great.

White lettering would've made things even more interesting. Infact, the primary decision making factor for me apart from capability was the white lettering on the side. I was OK to pay extra too.

More details on the Yokohamas. My Classic 4x4 is running Geolandars. Interestingly, they are also available in 285/60 R18 which is one of the most popular upsizes for the Thar. When I was shopping for tyres for my Thar, the only options were Maxxis (IIRC 16 - 18K rupees) and BF Goodrich (IIRC for 30 - 34k).

I recently got Radar Renegade RT+ (Rugged Terrain) tyres for my Gurkha which set me back by 85k for 5 tyres, went for a mild upsize. Although they have aggressive pattern, the tyres are silent in highways. I did check for my gurkha and only Geolander M/Ts are available which I presume are Mud Terrain tyres. Those would be noisy for sure.

My wife being an apollo dealer, I got 265/60 R18 apollo AT2 for the Z8 4x4 Scorpio-N (on the house )
Same tread as their Vredestein and optically similar to the X AT posted above. For 12k effective, and swapping the stock Bridgestone for 8.5, I think I did okay. 5 year warranty to boot, very grippy on the highway, and not too noisy.

I had put Yoko AT 255/65 R17 on the SN Z6 but flipped that car for the Z8. They made less noise but I really wouldn't call those AT tyres. Picked up two punctures in 1k kms.

OWL to boot!

The pricing when compared to the JK MT Tyres are very much on the higher side.

265-65-17 JK costs you ~10k and the same here costs ~25k!

Finally managed to find a review after I saw the thread pattern name of G016 in the post by GTO above. https://www.tyrereview.com.au/yokoha...n-depth-review. Looks like it is tuned for more off-roading capability than the G015. Road noise is something to watch out for as well.

Re: Yokohama launches next-gen Geolandar Xtreme all-terrain tyres in India

The prices seem really really high!!

I have been quoted BFG at Rs. 25,000 in 235 85 16. Why would i go for the Yokohamas at this price?

I am currently using 245 75 16 Radar Renegade RT+tyres and am quite happy with them. They have done over 38,000 kms and will last for 50,000 kms total easily. Only had one puncture so far. There is some uneven wear on the front tyres but that could be due to the Gurkhas suspension that chews up lower ball joints.

3 ply sidewall, 10 PR LT tyres with good treadwear and are quite silent considering the aggressive tread pattern when compared to MT tyres.

They performed really well on snow and muddy rutted roads in a recent trip.

I can replace my 245/75/R16 Radar Renegade RT+ with 235 85 16 Radars Renegade RT+ for about Rs.15,000 per tyre or approximately Rs.18,000 for the current size.

I thought the G016 Yokohamas would be priced around the 15,000 to 16,000 mark. This pricing makes zero sense. I would much rather get the BFG or Radars in that budget.

For one thing, the GO15 already cost between 15k-22k for the larger size models.
The GO16 is positioned above G015 and costs the same as BFG KO2 globally and these tyres have been available for about 3 years now as a premium option as a hybrid between AT and MT tyres from Yokohama. And I'm certain these are not locally made and imported from Japan hence the more premium pricing and limited size options for now.
