Skoda Kushaq : Tyre & wheel upgrade thread

Hi everyone,

I am planning to change the tyres on my Skoda Kushaq (205/55 R17), and I’ve narrowed it down to two options: PIRELLI Cinturato P7 and BRIDGESTONE Turanza 6i. There is a significant price difference between the two, and I’ve received mixed feedback regarding quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness.

I am a huge Michelin fan, but unfortunately, they don’t offer tyres in this size for my vehicle. I am leaning toward trying the PIRELLI Cinturato P7 but want to ensure they are safe and stable for Indian road conditions. If they don't meet expectations, I am open to switching to Bridgestone.

Would love to hear from fellow owners/ tyre enthusiasts who have experience with either of these options.

How much are you getting the Cinturatos for? If it is north of 14k a piece you may as well upgrade to 225/50R17 the diameter, sidewall height everything except for the width will be the exact same so it won’t chew through your suspension linkages. The only downside would be a slight dip in mileage (less than 5% or thereabouts) but the added stability and grip ought to make up for that. Not to mention you will open yourself up to a world of options from primacy’s and pilot sports, to ContiSportContacts, Yoko Advan Sports and even Vredesteins if you feel like sprucing things up

Hello there,
I have had pirelli cinturato p7 on my Octavia for about 22k kms & those weren’t great. You can explore bridgestone as they are new tyres in the market & few members have given positive review on this forum as well.

Will also recommend you to try Continental UC6 as it’s available in 205/55 R17.

They quoted ₹16.5K per tyre, which, after the buyback of the existing MRF tyres, comes down to ₹12K per tyre—almost double the price of Bridgestone Turanza 6i or Continental UC6.

While the Pirelli tyres look impressive, I’m unsure if they justify the higher cost. The dealer also mentioned that they have only 8 tyres in stock, with the next batch arriving in 6 months, raising concerns about sporadic availability. Given these factors, is it even worth considering Pirelli?

Go for UC6 and if you feel like spending as much as the Pirellis then go for 225/50s

Change the size to 215/55/R17 and you have much more choices. Including Primacy 4, UC6 and Vredstein

Thank you so much.

I’m also hearing that Pirelli tyres:
  1. Can get noisier on rough roads.
  2. Have inferior wet grip compared to Bridgestone Turanza.
  3. Aren’t as well-suited for Indian pothole-ridden roads as the Turanza 6i or Continental UC6, which are designed to handle rough surfaces better.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this.

I’d love to upsize the tyres, but I’m hesitant to take the risk with Skoda and Volkswagen, especially considering service and warranty concerns. They are a little finicky when it comes to such things.

without getting too technical all I can say is this: the Cinturatos are good, just as good as Turanzas or UC6 but not spectacularly good or better in any way to justify the price premium over the Turanzas or the UC6. If you are looking for better rubber, go for Advan Sports or Primacy or Pilot Sports all available in 225/50R17 size which entails 0% difference in sidewall height and overall diameter.

That would be the case if it was a weird upsize but 225/50 is exactly compatible and will make zero difference to the way the car sits. Anyway if you are replacing suspension components they will come under wear and tear which no dealership will permit a replacement under warranty for.

Parts like suspension are anyway wear and tear items and you will not get any warranty on it. There is no powertrain or electronics warranty that you'll have a problem with, if you change the tyre size. 215/55 is the closest option and makes the most sense.

215/55 is not the closest option since that adds sidewall height thereby increasing the ground clearance and messing up with the way the car rides and handles. 225/50 on the other hand is the exact same diameter as stock. Thus if upgrading, sticking to 225/50 would be a wiser choice and would not foul with the way the car is set up.

225 is too wide for the width of the alloy and also the steering gets heavier than you need. Even though the overall diameter is closest to OE size, Its not safe to install.

Okay now between Turanzas or UC6 - does Turanza win by a slight margin or is it the other way round.

UC6 are not as silent as Turanza 6i as they are built to withstand rough, pothole-heavy roads.
on the other hand 6i prioritizes comfort over aggressive handling and costlier compared to UC6.

whichever is cheaper neither are the best at whatever they claim to offer anyway so in the end it is up to personal preference or cost IMO
