Spare tire query - Getz

I have a Getz 1.3, currently running on stock tube-type 155/70-13. A few days back, I had a minor pothole related accident which damaged the front right tire. I changed that with the spare tire.

Now I have to buy just 1 tire for the spare. I am not going for an all tire change to tube-less right now, since the tires have a tread life of about 20k left right now.

However, I have a spare, new tube with me.

My questions:
1. Can I buy a tube-less tire and put in the spare tube to run it as a tube-type? Mind you, it will be in the spare mostly.

2. My future tube-less size would be 175/70-13. Should I buy the spare of that size or the current stock size?

I mean, is there a harm if 1 tire is of slightly different specs, supposing I put that in case of a puncture?

3. Lastly, any idea of the prices

Please suggest.

Getz afaik has 155/80/R13 as the stock size. the one you mentioned comes with the santro. It'll drive funny if you pop in a spare of 175 profile and have to use it sometime. Better stick to the size that is on the other 4 tyres and get the same size for spare.

Hi Nishant, I guess it would have been easier with 175's on the car and 155's as spare. Not too sure how easy or difficult it may be .The tyre experts can provide more info.

I am also looking at 175/70 - 13 for my Ikon and from what our fellow members have shared , Yoko -A Drives are about 2700-2800 per tyre and XM+ are about 3k. Hope this helps

Cheers

1. Do not do that. Why do you want to do that anyway?

2. I would suggest 175/70 R13, so later you'll only have to buy 3 more of the same size & one decent 155/80 can be used as the spare.

3. Minor pulling to one side but nothing major. If driven for short distances it's not an issue.
