Is it necessary that you should pick up 5? Would it not be Ok to keep the spare wheel stock?

205/55 R15 will fit comfortably, but frankly, you dont need 205. The Punto is not a very fast car. Unless you want to mod it, then get 205. Otherwise 195/60 R15 is the best. The rolling circumference is exactly the same as stock(so no warranty issues), better ride quality, etc.
My bad then, I read it on some forum so thought thats the width. Have no clue regarding tires that much.

Regarding the 205s, yes, I did feel a little drag in the pickup. But cannot comment if it is because of the tires or the heavier alloys (15" OZs).

Well I don't suppose you "HAVE" to, but personally I would not like the idea of having a different tyre for the spare wheel.

Crimson --- You are getting a fabulous deal! Had no idea Michelins were so cheap in Pune! 4.4k per tyre is a killer deal!! Here, the price is closer to 4.8k!

Yokohama SDrive 205/55-R15: 4400 Per Tyre
Michelin Primacy LC 195/50-R15: 4400 Per Tyre
Congrats in advance for your new car.

So, 2.2k for each stock tyre you will get and 4.4k for each new Michelin tyre you will have to pay. That means one new Michelin for 2.2k each? Am I correct?

2.2k buy back for brand new 195/60/15 tyres ? Sounds like a good deal.

I got a 2k buy back for my 7 month old Yokohama A-Drives (195/60/R15) which ran some 7k kms.

Yes, I will have to pay a difference of 2200 per tyre. So that makes a total of 11K for 5 tyres.

Good choice of rubber. Enjoy the ride and do compare your ride with others.
But do not forget to get the warrant cards.

@Nikhil : You are very good at tyre advice.
Cheers!

Nikhil. Q for you - Why is it that the buyback price in Bangalore is so low? It ranges from 700 - 1200 for a stock JK Vectra that comes on the Marutis. I believe Mumbai and Pune dealers offer higher buyback prices. Coupled with the higher price for newer tyres, Bangalore customers are taken for a ride !!

I cant give you an exact reason for the low buyback prices! I feel it's because the demand for used tyres is lesser here than in some other places. Anyway, the buyback price for JK Vectras is a little higher. I assume oyu're referring to 185/70 R14. The normal buyback for that is around 1800-1900 per tyre.

Prices for new tyres varies from place to place. Depends on transportation costs, taxes, etc...

Even 195/60 is overkill for the diesel Punto. Even with the Diesels, do not go over 195/60, it'll only kill your performance.

I just checked in a couple of other shops. They are all asking for 4800 per tyre for the Primacy LC. I wonder why this guy is offering them, at 4400 per tyre.

The shop is Mehta tyres opposite the Pandit showroom on Tilak road. Has anyone dealt with this shop in the past?

Take it! Seriously! N Mehta is a Michelin Tyre Plus showroom. 4800/- is the correct price. But for some reason, this guy is giving you a ridiculously low price. Take it, dont think too much.

Cannot be. If he was giving it to you for 2 or 3k, then you might have reason to be suspicious.

Another thing. Make sure the price is t he same. Many times, some salesman will quote a wrong price and when you go back, they will say it was a mistake. It can happen. It might be an honest mistake. But make sure the dealer doesnt backtrack on his word.
