1). XM1+ should last more than 40,000 kms if you maintain them well...

2). It's ok to run them on stock rims as long as the rims are in good condition and dont have rust on them.

3). No point in upgrading to 13". Stick to 12 is my suggestion.

1. Michelins are good in terms of performance but they can't be termed as long lasting tires especially in Indian conditions. Good maintenance may take u beyond 40k mark but frankly i haven't heard of too many Michelins lasting more than 40k. IMO on an average, they last around 35k+.

2. XM1+ on stock rims is perfectly fine.

3. 12" is fine for an ALTO.

I finally purchased 4 Tyres of Michelin XM1+ 145/80 R12. No Alloys as of now.
Was going to purchase 5 but one of my Old Tyres had a Cut, so he refused to buy back.

The Cost Break-up is :-

4 Michelin Tyres :- 1975*4 = 7900
Old Tyres :- 800*4 = 3200
Balancing :- 100
Wheel Alignment :- 200
Nitrogen :- Free.

Total :- 5000.

Got a Michelin Gift Pack as well worth Rs.2500 which consists of a Watch, Credit Card Holder, Key Holder and a Wallet.

Have done very less Driving since then but the Ride is definately smoother than the JK's.
Hoping to have a Good Time riding on Michelins.

Btw, how frequently do we have to check the Tyre Pressure to refill Nitrogen?

Hi all,

I have decided to put alloys in my Alto LX. The stock size, as most must be aware is 145/80 R12. I had decided on 12 inches Neo alloys, but then learnt a bit about upsizing & found that 155/65 R13 is an ideal upsize.

I don't want to tamper with the suspension in any way, no spacers or anything of that sort. I am simply interested in changing the stock steel rims to alloys.

Please suggest which would be a better option, sticking to stock 12" or upsize to 13" with the tyre size suggested. Also if anybody is using the aforementioned upsize, kindly share your experience about whether the tyres scrape the wheel well, or the slightly reduced GC leads to scarping of the body with 4-5 people on board.

@MODS: I looked for similar queries & found some, but couldn't find any satisfactory answers about what people might have experienced with such an upgrade.

165/60r13 tires with 5 J rims will give you the best performance

Look at the 155/70/12 option too.

Hey satya, thanks for the prompt response. I did consider this profile as well, but it would become really hard to steer the car. Mine doesn't have a power steering. The maximum width I am looking at is 155mm. What do you think about 155/65 & 155/70 (both 13") with 13" alloys? But I am not interested in installing spacers of any sort or do any other modification to the car. Do you think, that without spacers or any mods, the car can take 155/70 or 155/65 well?

hmm, thanks buddy. I wasn't aware whether such a size exists. But I did read somewhere that the ideal rim/alloy width for a tyre as mentioned by you (155/x) is at least 4.5 inches (bare minimum). But the alloys or rims in 12" are 4" wide only. Please comment.

blackfire 145/70-13 or 155/65-13 or 165/60-13 are the correct upsizes for the Alto in the 13" category. If its 155 that you want to go ahead with it, its the right up-size.

However, it was just decided at my place that I will be putting 12" alloys. I had finalized Neo Velocity when I stumbled accross model LG-160 from League. I am in the process of finding out about a dealer in Delhi from whom this model can be procured.

Please provide information/contact of a dealer in Delhi or Gurgaon, from whom genuine League alloys can be bought. I am planning to make the purchase this weekend, so request my fellow members here to reply fast & help me.

Hi rj, thanks for your response again. I already checked with Sai Mag wheels & they do not have anything in 12". I guess, most of these foreign alloys start from 13". And I also asked them if they dealt in League, they don't.

But please do let me know in case you know of anybody who deals in League as well.

Hey Gansan, yes there would be a speedometer error as it comes caliberated for the stock tyre size i.e. 145/80 R12. But exactly how much I am not sure. Although, with 155/65 R13, the overall diameter is slightly less & so I feel that the speed indicated would be higher than the true speed or higher to what would be indicated on the stock tyre.

I went ahead & bought a set of 4 Neo Bullet alloys in Black machined finish. Cost me about 9.6K. But there is a slight confusion that has surfaced post the purchase which is whether Neo supplies chrome finished nuts (for the look) along with the alloy wheels or not. I did not get any nuts & the dealer said that Neo doesn't supply them. But then another dealer said that Neo sends that alongwith the package as a standard accessory. I called the company but couldn't find anybody there, maybe it's Sunday. Please clarify this, sincere request to all those who have bought Neo alloys recently.

Hi guys, I am zeroing down at xm1+ with 13" alloy for my alto, but now in doubt after seeing speedometer error, is there anyway we can correct that?

The update on this is that I heard from the company & Neo does not supply any sort of chrome finished nuts or any other sort of accessory along with the package.

Below is a picture of the alloy bought, & I must say that this design looks a lot better in real than on the Neo website.

Hey, does anyone reccomend getting a coat of lacquer done on the painted surface of the alloy wheel to protect it from scratches. Has anyone done this before?
