What RIM for my Xylo Neo 6.5J or HR 7 J ?

Hello BHPians,

Right now am in a big confusion of whether to buy a 6.5 Neo Alloys or 7 HR alloy for xylo.

Original spec of the tyres : 215/75/R15 * 6

options available for me : OE Alloys 28500 Rupees for set of 5
: HR Alloys R15*7 20000 Rupees for set of 5
: Neo Alloys R15*6.5 21000 Rupees for set of 5

IMO the OE alloys looks decent and expensive
HR looks good but 7J - So am not sure whether it brings any problem
Neo Looks Good (but not comparing HR) - Size is okay as its just .5 more than OE.

Please let me know if there is any technical problem putting 7J instead 6 with the stock tyres. And am not looking to reduce the price alone.

Thanks for your time on reading (replying)

Please stay away from the 7J, it can get menacing while the vehicle is fully loaded. Go with the manufacturer mentioned specs ALWAYS

Thanks for the reply 2500. I am wondering because Mahindra also has the 6.5 Neo wheel with Mahindra logo printed cup for same 28.5 k. I believe it would be better to go with the OE alloys. isn't it ?

Go for Neo, its equally good. use 6.5 only. I have been using neo for past 2 year on my safari. No issues.

Hi Trtraj , 7J would not be a problem, Since you will be using the stock tires the width of the tire and allows could slightly mismatch. The lip of the alloy could be exposed. But this will not hinder your cars handling or anything.
I personally would have gone with the HR, since Alloys are something you can get bored with very fast, so go for the best design

Thanks for your reply, Neo is having only one pattern which doesn't looks great in terms of satisfaction with design in my view. Will check out other wheels and update.

Tyres & Alloy Wheels for M&M XYLO

Hi all,

I have booked a new Xylo Celebration Edition (Walnut Brown), i think it will be delivered to me before Diwali.

I am right now working on the suitable alloys with up-sizing tires for it as it doesn't come with alloys.

The Research:

Xylo OEM alloy is 15' and comes with 215/75 Bridgestone Dueler tires. I am not able to find any other info regarding the PCD and the offset of the OEM alloys.

Than i searched for the accessories list on the xylo in their website they have an after market alloy with M&M badge on this link
:: Welcome to Mahindra Xylo co.in ::

Then i came to know that it is the one from from neowheels manufacturer with M&M badge on it, So i tracked down to the website there i got the exact replica which i saw in the xylo website.

This in M&M site

This is Neowheels 15" Extreme BM

The specification is

It is clear that OEM alloys would be 15" with PCD 114.3 and offset being 37mm with 6J.

Now i need help for Up-sizing my alloys to 16" & wider tires.

I have referred every aspect of carbible.com tire section Car Bibles : The Wheel and Tyre Bible Page 4 of 4 and had come to an conclusion the best fitting tire & alloy in the market for xylo would be

16 Inches wheel, Offset 37 +3/-3, PCD 114.3.

The Problem:

With those details i called some tire centers in Chennai and asked them for these, the immediate reply was not to go for 16" wheels. The problem according to them is that if i go for 16" i have to do some modifications in the bumper of the car and in the rear it will hit the body of the car, which i don't want to do.

They advised to go for 235/75 R15, which is +4% more diameter than the OEM diameter which is not advisable(as per carbible calculator). My preference is 235/60 R16 is -2% in carbible calculator.

Tyre gurus & Xylo owners who have up-sized, Kindly help me in choosing the suitable alloys with suitable tire up-size in my xylo.

As this is my first thread, mistakes if any please correct me.

Re: Tyres & Alloy Wheels for M&M XYLO

The PCD for Xylo is 120 and not 114.3, the Extreme is the only option available from Neo-wheels, though I have seen numerous Xylos running on cheap looking chrome finish star design alloy here in Delhi-NCR.

Most of the modern BMWs also have 120 PCD wheels.

Re: Tyres & Alloy Wheels for M&M XYLO

@BANDAV Thanks for your valuable information. Is it advisable to go for 17" wheels in 120pcds? I really want to make my Xylo look good & handle better... Will it be possible??
