Some invoices for a new Bajaj Chetak scooter in 1978 sold by Suzy Auto Madurai. The cost was Rs. 5,559 including taxes, spare wheel and tools.

The Morris Minor lowlight is advertised here at a cost reduced to Rs. 7,775 by the French Motor Car Co. Ltd. Undated, but we can assume between 1948-51?

In the late 1920s (?) The Bombay Garage sold Armstrong Siddeley cars with prices as listed in this ad. They started at Rs. 4,750 for the 12hp 6 cylinder tourer, going up to Rs. 8,750 for the 7 seater 20hp with automatic transmission.

Here is an August 1950 price list of Jaguar and Riley cars by agents Garware Motors in Bombay. Interestingly the prices are already listed in pounds, as by this time perhaps a special license was needed to import a car?

In 1919 a Chevrolet two seater 20hp was advertised at Rs. 3,750 including spare tyre and tube.

An NSU Prima was listed at Rs. 3,200 plus taxes in this undated ad, from the 1950s. Agents were The Globe Stores Co.

They were probably few and far between. Another model that also advertised the self starter was the Royal Enfield Fantabulus

The 1948 Kaiser was launched at a competitive price of Rs. 11,850, ex-Bhandup plant.

This ad dates to October 1948. We have also seen an older ad from June giving the price as Rs. 12,660 here.

And by Feb 1950 it was up to Rs. 14,400, shared here.

You are right, Hillman is notable by its absence. They were very popular right from the 30s, going by the frequency of advertisements I've seen, especially from Allied Motors Bombay. The above publication is from Hyderabad.
