Prices from 1987 at Bangalore
Cheers
KPS
The Morris Minor lowlight is advertised here at a cost reduced to Rs. 7,775 by the French Motor Car Co. Ltd. Undated, but we can assume between 1948-51?
In the late 1920s (?) The Bombay Garage sold Armstrong Siddeley cars with prices as listed in this ad. They started at Rs. 4,750 for the 12hp 6 cylinder tourer, going up to Rs. 8,750 for the 7 seater 20hp with automatic transmission.
Here is an August 1950 price list of Jaguar and Riley cars by agents Garware Motors in Bombay. Interestingly the prices are already listed in pounds, as by this time perhaps a special license was needed to import a car?
In 1919 a Chevrolet two seater 20hp was advertised at Rs. 3,750 including spare tyre and tube.
An NSU Prima was listed at Rs. 3,200 plus taxes in this undated ad, from the 1950s. Agents were The Globe Stores Co.
Thanks Karl.
Everyday one learns something.
I never knew scooters here were sold with self starters.

They were probably few and far between. Another model that also advertised the self starter was the Royal Enfield Fantabulus
In 1976, a Standard Gazel was probably worth 25k when new. Excerpt from a 1976 insurance document of my grandpa’s car.
The 1948 Kaiser was launched at a competitive price of Rs. 11,850, ex-Bhandup plant.
This ad dates to October 1948. We have also seen an older ad from June giving the price as Rs. 12,660
here.
And by Feb 1950 it was up to Rs. 14,400, shared
here.

Thanks for sharing! Was Hillman Minx not available in India in 1950? I had heard that they were pretty popular back then.

You are right, Hillman is notable by its absence. They were very popular right from the 30s, going by the frequency of advertisements I've seen, especially from Allied Motors Bombay. The above publication is from Hyderabad.
Found this 1946 copy of the Assam Gazette in my house. It contains details of government controlled prices of vans and cars:
