My Mom always talks about this Merc as being to "more expensive" of the 2 models available in Goa before Liberation. The the "cheaper" model was the Ponton. I think the price in those days was Rs.12000/- & Rs.15000/-. My Dad's Official car was the "cheaper" Merc.

I have no idea why I'd missed this thread before now, it's incredible!Am glad your father was able to relive his youth by driving the W111.

There's something about our old cars that sparks so much nostalgia. My late Dad bought his first car- the only one he drove- at age 54 and even though we bought much newer. nicer cars after that, there was something special about MFC 1946 that shall never be forgotten!
