Bangalore Vintage Group held its Vintage Car & Bike show on 23rd November 2014, at the Jayamahal Palace Hotel.
It was Bangalore Vintage Group’s 5th event in its 2 years. Fellow BHPian
avinashsg had visited all the previous events but for the first time, I tagged along with him.
It was a very good chance to go and check out an awesome collection of cars, motorbikes, scooters and bicycles that adorned the roads of yesteryears.
The criteria for the exhibitors was that the vehicles should be more than 25 years old
I got up early in the morning at 9AM (9AM on a Sunday is early
). I had my breakfast and headed out to the basement parking to take out my car.
But since we were going to a vintage meet, I changed my plans. I took my retro looking Vespa S to match the event!
I picked up
avinashsg from his house and by 11AM, we were at the venue.
Outside the venue, many car dealers had put their stalls and exhibited their latest vehicles.
We registered at the entry as visitors and bought passes at ₹100/- per head
Avinash told me that this was the first time we had to buy tickets and earlier it was a free entry.
Later the host was saying it on the stage and we came to know that the proceeds of the event will be utilised to help poor children with kidney problems.
This was done in association with some organisation called V-care trust.
The area was demarcated with separate areas for Jeeps, Cars, Motorbikes, Scooters & Bicycles.
The host was announcing that around 300 vehicles had participated. We felt that there were only around 150.
There was a band on the stage and a DJ playing some music. This was when the host was not talking; but very few were interested in that at that time.
Apart from the vehicles, I found an equal number of DSLRs on that day taking pictures from every possible angle. We started with it too
It was nice to see a couple of TV channels also covering the event...except that they were coming behind me everywhere and not letting me take photographs in peace!
