Hi All, I have just been informed by a friend that there is a VCCCI Event tomorrow morning at 7am at Horniman Circle, Fort. Was wondering if this is correct as I haven't seen anything on our Forum?

Attended the 2015 VCCCI rally today morning. A good number of classic and vintage cars as well as bikes turned up!

Sadly my camera developed problems at the last minute, so had to click pictures with my 3 year old cellphone. Sorry for the bad quality of photographs!

I am sure some talented photographer will upload high resolution pics very soon

Saw the Hudson of Mr Dossa being towed a little while back and some more of his fleet of American cars - Cadillac / Ford / Oldsmobile and one more of on the airoli bridge headed towards the thane Belapur road post the rally prize distribution I presume for parking.

Kasli if the Hudson stalled cos' of overheating I know the reason why. Now this is a true story.
Way back when, all the blokes went to Goa in it. Lots of things happened on the way, and on the way back everyone cooked the sausages on the two cylinder heads.... actually.. but the previous owner of the car he put it into the radiator. After a while when they opened the cap they looked in and couldn't find the sausages. They never found them!!!..

Unfortunately I had to miss this event as our vintage and classic drivers group had already decided to drive to mahableshwar on the weekend,like guys in bombay, we also had a blast. No lunch at Sofitel but breakfasts, lunches , dinners and super fun at the Mahableshwar Club

I do not know which cars were judged but I would assume Mr Viveck Goenka, Mr Amir Jetha, Mr Kabir Bhogilal, Mr Siddharth Khona, Mr Fali Dhondhy,Mr Amal Tanna,amongst others would have been awarded .

Their cars are well maintained and deserve recognition.

I heard from somebody that a 1949 Morris Minor was also awarded with a trophy and I also happened to receive a pic of somebody with the trophy and on zooming in the trophy read " Best Performance Classic Car" Is it possible???

Please post the picture you received, would be interesting to see. Classic cars are also collectables and if they perform flawlessly , no reason why they should not receive recognition.

The problem here are not the cars. We just do not have people with sufficient knowledge on all types of cars to judge. Thus it becomes subjective and creates needless controversies.

Keep in mind that Best Performance here implies its result in the TSD competition (Time, Speed, Distance). Performance does not mean an out-and-out drag race. When on a controlled route, it makes no difference if you are in a tiny Morris or a large Mercedes. Well, the Minor would probably have an advantage in traffic if anything.

Yes I stand corrected and had misunderstood. What I thought was that the car was awarded as a Performance classic meaning the class of the car being described as a Performance classic, which is why I was a little confused.

I managed to get a few pics of the cars as they passed by. Didn't get a good spot so the pics are not that great.

First pic I clicked was of the 'Ol Hudson.. She was used last month or rather given to be used for the wedding of the previous owners great granddaughter. I have a couple of pic and also have pic of the Great Eight at a wedding that took place way back in '75
