Im glad to finally see progress on that car. Its been in that garage for ages. And sorry, that is an OHV Amby engine. Quite a sad car with nothing original left.

I remember this car well, it had a south regn, MEV or MEH. Last couple of times I passed by it was missing I assumed it was gone. Glad to see it back. Did you get any more pics of it?

Look carefully, you'll see those photos on the rust in pieces thread too

Again, those are not both Austins! One is Morris 8, the other an Austin. Probably 8 or 10.

Yes as Kalosdevil says thats the OHV Amby engine under the Landdmaster's bonnet.. The rear lights too have been given the desi 21st century touch.
But the photos are lovely. Cyrus43, never knew that you can also photograph other cars too so well (other than Fiats). Its just like being there, seeing the lovely pictures

Hey Cyrus, I just got back from Lonavala. I too saw the other Topolino, on the side of the road just a bit ahead of the Landmaster. Could it be the same one in the garage ???

Nice pictures CYRUS 43 . The Landmaster engine is not original. this is the Ambassador 1489 cc OHV engine. The tail lights are some of makeshift type and not original.

It is not the same one in the garage. Because the garage one is still there. It hasnt moved and i doubt it ever will. Also this particular one has Wheel, Tyres and Suspension on. I also suspect it has an Engine. We shall see it clearly when we come back from the 15th Aug Rally( if possible). Ravi, Didnt you take pictures??

Well, I assumed it was original as there was a Hindustan Plaque on it. But as you and karl said, and as dad also pointed out, It is not an original one. Those Taillights are Obviously unorginal. Also, The Bumper is from an Ambi MK1.

Thats an OHV engine dickra not a side valve.
Cyrus, your dad will kill you for this faux pas
also the bumper and guards are not of the Landmaster, just as KArl has pointed out.
Also the rear lights are from a Bajaj three wheeler.
Hardly original id say.
For all you know, the interiors been messed up too.

Yup Dussey,
it looks like a Willy's (owing to the LHD and the smaller guages, a 63-64 maybe with a Nissan (Jonga?) steering wheel and horn button.
And whats that contraption on its front, remnants of a Winch??

You know the more I think about it, I recall this Jeep was parked at a dhabha in Hadapsar alongside 2 Beetles and a Variant, all junked. The Beetles are long gone. The Jeep was regd MHJ 6665 or 5556 or thereabouts.

The Landmaster's front bumper is of the MarkII/3 and the front parking light of the latest ISZ 1800/2000DSL. But kudos to the guy who is at least trying to put it back on the road.

Dad saw the Pictures of the Jeep and confirmed it to be a RHD which was later changed to LHD. Look at the viper mounting boxes. The holes are supposed to face outside. Not inside as shown in the picture.

Me and my camera have a unique relationship - we're never in the same place at the same time !!
But I'll be doing another Lonavala trip soon, promise to get pics of the topolino.
