| Distinguished - BHPian   | The Hitavada-Jaycee International Orange City Rally at Nagpur on 1st March The periodicity of this Vintage and Classic Car and Bike Rally at Nagpur is a regular two years.The Hitavada and JCI-Orange City jointly organise this rally.The first one was organised sometime in 1981 by the same organisers. JCI Orange City was known as the Orange City Jaycees earlier. The rallies were recently was held in 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007 and now 2009! The organisers have shown a regular periodicity now and the biennial rally is organised every second year. I have participated in two of the recent ones(2005 and 2007) and am hopeful of taking part this time around.The last time my car was adjudged The Best Maintained Classic Car, Runner Up. Till the last time entries were restricted to 60 cars and bikes, but this time the new venue (Hislop College Ground) can accommodate more as they put it.I am not sure about the cut off year as yet, but was told that a 1962 Fiat 1100 Super Select has also gained entry. | Distinguished - BHPian | I participated in the rally with may faithful Landmaster. The route was 37 kms across the city. I did not win any prize.It was really a pleasure to participate in the rally though the day heat was quite perceptible. One participant on his Morris 8 of the 1940's complained about his fuel pump failing due to heat many a time.Nitin Dossa of the VCCCI, Mumbai judged the Concours' d Elegance. The show stealer was a regal 1936 Rolls Royce Phantom II. This was the car of the Governor of Bengal which was with an owner in Mumbai but now here at Nagpur. The oldest participating vehicle was a 1916 motorbike- picture below  Mr Nitin Dossa astride my Landmaster  A 1956 BMW R 28 Bike  A 1952 Royal Enfield Ensign  A 1954 black Landmaster  Last edited by anjan_c2007 : 1st March 2009 at 20:38. |
