I am a big fan of harit Sir, especially in Nostalgic pics thread. I am aware of Politics that happen in Clubs as thats what is happening in KVCCC! :(

I'm sorry for my post, but I am really hurt with such happenings in Auto Clubs in India. Sorry Harit Sir for the previous post. Just that I didn't like your comment on Fiats which are my favorite classic.

Hi Counsel, Sorry, nothing to say about BAD/GOOD Fiats, did not mean to offend anyone. Indeed this came out sounding bad, my bad.
You see, there was something not right in the manner of prizes given. If you where there maybe you could comment on that too.
I am not the only one who has issues with VCCCI, CIVAA may not have been formed otherwise. What I meant to say was that apparently some cars were included to increase numebers. Diesel Jeeps in an international event? Come on.
I have nothing against these Fiats/Premiers, I do attend FCCCI meets occasionally, my choice of word was not appropriate. But my meaning was clear, lack of quality cars and hopeless judging. Sorry if you felt that Fiats were singled out, specific offence was not meant.
BUT, please note that VCCCI functioning is not only my issue, this concerns many. Presently only me speaketh publicly, hopefully more will get courage.

Like the Chevy Belair very much, as also the MGB, XK120, Skyline and the Chevy Coupe. Anjan sir, your Landmaster really looks good. The time and effort spent by you on your car really shows up nicely in these pics. The purple Fiat is striking, at the very least. What about more pics? There couldn't have been such few good cars around.

Thanks Super Select Ravi and MBZ180. The "Lady in Black" is treasured by me.
Now coming back to the rally, I am posting pictures here with media reports and even the Rally advertisements as they appeared in The Hitavada.
The pictures speak for themselves and reading the earlier posts by my fellow teambhpians, one can easily infer whatever is OK or not!
I have offered my observations on a few pictures, where I simply could not keep my mouthshut.com !
The first advt dated 12/02/2011 says "supported by CIVAA" whereas there is no mention of CIVAA on the advt on D Day viz. 13/02/2011.

Now below , three pictures of my Landmaster taken at dawn on D Day when I started working upon it ! A stitch in time saves nine -universal truth!The CIVAA badge in brass shines from dawn to dusk.










The awesome 1957 Belair- during the flag off the announcer said "aisi gaadi par purane kaal ke heros our heroines baitthte thhe!" Some could'nt believe that real, pedigreed Chevrolets are like this and not the Aveos, Beats and Sparks of the plasticky and boxy kind.

The winners -1929 Ford Model A of the Chawaks. Sr Chawak is seen in the second picture. His father had bought this car at Nagpur in 1929.It is fitted with Yamaha RX100 indicators!











The 1968 Vicky that won a prize. It has been fitted with a Chetak headlight.The OE headlights were rectangular.

This is a 1976 Kubota tractor. It was earlier featured in the newspaper as an entry. But wisdom prevailed perhaps and it appeared, but was moving constantly in circles, advertising its owner's business!

Nice pics.! Yes, like long lost Siblings, and more so as if one sibling grew up 'wealthy' in caring hands, while the other in neglect and looking forlorn. Another familiar story!

About the rally, as I said it was quite well organised and the dedication,motivation and commitment of the JCI Orange City's volunteer members ad office bearers is something that has to be seen to be believed. So dedicated and courteous is their nearly 250 member team that every participant feels very much at home.The band was playing and welcoming every participant, as soon as he or she entered through the porch.Along the route at checkposts, there was the vintage JCI Orange City camaraderie on display.
On the flip side, there were some hiccups that I must point out.The route bypassed a large part of east and south Nagpur which we all normally traverse,as the route was earmarked through the south eastern Ring Road for the first time. We had ample articulated trucks and the normal trucks for company. I guess a large population staying in East and South Nagpur missed seeing the rally cars.
The Classic car and bike classification has an illogically wide span viz.1940-70 (30 years). You expect old, gold Ariel, AJS, Matchless, Norton and other bikes to compete with Vickys, new Bullets and Jawas? And old battle scarred Austins,Vauxhalls, Morrises and others to compete with Fiats and Ambassadors? Mind you, this classification here has the VCCCI (affiliated to FIVA, France, the apex body to which most other true blue, Vintage Car and Bike Clubs/Associations around the world are affiliated ) thumbs up!
About the winners the Morris had Premier Padmini parking lights fitted on the front mudguard and was without a petrol tank cap.The Jaguar had a broken OE fog lamp lens.The Ford Model A had Yamaha RX 100 indicators.
And I believe, the prize winners have always been the same since decades.The same cars win almost all the major prizes.Most other entrants were hence disgruntled.We do not go to win any prizes but to enjoy the rally with family members. But if things are glaring it pinches.
If the heroes , heroines, character actors , comedians and all others in the winning cast are decided do the other participants go there as sidekicks or extras?

Thanks Shyam. The Lambretta has been repainted much like the original. Last time, it donned the original paint on its rear part( from footboard onwards).

That looks like a 39/40s era Chevy Master coupe but the grille seems refabricated (little too shiny) and suspension is jacked up quite a bit.

Its a 38 coupe, and is a exact copy of what Fangio drove then (40 coupe).
