It is a 2015 Honda City, SV MT PETROL, 1st owner. Insurance seems to be expired. No spare key. Cars24 gives me some confidence. Compared to dealer prices, it seems cheap (at ₹3.93 Lakh) due to high running. They claim there are no repainted parts on this one. The front lights are faded though - is that concerning?

Will it have niggles? I have heard a lot about Honda reliability, can I go for it? Need honest opinion.

Is Cars24 of Kolkata to be trusted?
Go from my side
1. It should not have any niggles, take a test drive and check on bumpy roads for any noise from the suspension. Suspension overhaul will cost you around 30k. Reliability should not be a problem from engine point of view
2. check for service history- that will give you an idea on the regular maintenance that has been carried out
3. Tyres would have undergone a change at 60k mark, if not- new ones will cost you around 25k
4. Front lights fading is not a concern, 82k running is alright for the age and price
5. Keep Cars 24 out of the equation and check extensively at your level to ensure you get a good car

I think this is a flooded car from the interiors. The KMS on the car is not really very high, but the interior condition definitely indicates mud deposition.

Check out the dashboard and the seats! Physical inspection will give you better idea.

My local mechanic says no one except the Volkswagen service centers can repair them (and that they need some specialised software for fitting parts). Are Polos reliable and easy to maintain?

Also, the asking prices are outrageous here in Kolkata. It is even more difficult to come across a clean one.
Avoid Polo GT TSI (pre 2020) as the DSGs will pack up. It is not a question of "if" but "when". It could be either the mechatronics unit or the clutch pack, or both, that could pack up without warning, and unless you are extremely mechanically inclined you may not catch it in advance.

I would suggest getting a used diesel Figo (new gen). It is a great car to drive, it will be frugal to own as well. This is if you enjoy driving and want to hone your driving skills. Just be prepared to write it off in the used market thereafter, s the demand for these cars could be low given that Ford has exited the market.

The next best option is Maruti Swift. Can't go wrong with it.

Kolkata car, maximum that happens to them is the body gets scratched and suspension wears out due to the uneven road! Apart from that, nothing to worry! Its a decent buy.
About the spare key, sometimes cars 24 and olx etc, mention "no spare key" simply because at the time of inspection the current owner would not have shown it to them!

All the best!

Re: Best enthusiast / first car for an 18-year old college student under 4 lakhs?

I have another option from Cars24: 2014 Honda City 1.5L I-VTEC SV (1st owner)

Run 63,950 KM, comprehensive insurance valid till April 2024 (with 50% NCB) but tax expires next year.

14 parts repainted. Seems like almost the whole car is repainted. Is it a better option compared to the other one?

Front tires have wheel caps missing but 60-70% tire life left.
