Re: Body-on-frame Automatic SUV paradox | 30-lakh max spend

The Scorpio N 4WD Diesel it is. You can choose the variant based on your preference.

Now coming to the Endy (which is THE perfect choice for your requirement except for the PRICE if Ford still kept its shop open), it is a daunting task to find a pre-worshipped Endy 3.2 (even though price is not a factor since you have the budget). Again, if it is Endy then it should be the 3.2.

Any reason why the XUV 700 and Gloster are off your list ?

Well, the thread itself says 'Body on frame SUV'. So the XUV700 is out.

He also mentions that Glucose is out of his budget.

I guess Z8L 4WD AT it is then. Finding a rightly priced, unabused 3.2L is extremely hard. Add to the somewhat uncertain future and flex plate issue.
That too, taking a loan on a used car is something I'd like to avoid. If they were still selling the Endeavour (old 2.0 or the new 3.0), I'd book it in a heartbeat and even expand my budget for it.

As bhpian DicKy said, the consideration is body-on-frame only. I want a vehicle that is tough and can take a beating. All of my batchmates and colleagues are getting the 700 too.
Body-on-frame and RWD-biased 4WD are the things that move me towards the Scorpio more than the 700. That aside, considering it's image, fewer people will mess about on the road (that is at least until they see me and think "spoilt high schooler driving his dad's car and breaking the law").

I'd eventually want to start overlanding too and I'd much rather do that with a Scorpio/Fortuner than say, a 700 or a Compass.

Also, my hard cap is 30L on road and at this stage in life, I do not want to cross that limit. Even a used Gloster is easily 32L+.

Absolutely. Also, I have diabetes and not very sure about buying from that brand (no offence to the owners). As you said, first is the budget. Secondly, something about it just doesn't sit right with me.
Also, the nearest service center is at Hazratganj. I don't like that place at all. There are dedicated places for hooning in Lucknow but this is not one of them. Surely, all those fashionista didis will take offence to burnouts.
I'd much rather have a Mahindra/Toyota/Land Rover that I can access service centers within 20 min.

Update:

Well, totally forgot that this thread existed. Anyway, here's the closure:
