Re: Beater Car | Stay within a budget or follow my heart?

I just noted that Jazz is still listed on Honda’s site. Are the last few Jazz units still yet to be sold??? I mean if a brand new Jazz CVT were to present itself as an option right now, I would lap it up.
Has anyone faced the same?

Looks like you've ended up at the same place I was eh? . Any updates?
Make sure you get the best/longest extended warranty you can find. Hyundai transmissions aren't toyota/Honda reliable, just as expensive and harder/longer to source.

Re: Beater Car | Stay within a budget or follow my heart?

I have!!!
I test drove a Jazz CVT on Saturday via Truebil. The drive was good. It felt like a good buy potentially but I was not so convinced and something did not click so well. And the answers from Truebil folks could’ve been better as well. However, given the pricing, paddle shifters, drive experience as well as money saved up front, I was almost sold.

I also tried a City MT. And the drive was just soo smooth even for a 6y old car! But then Pricing was not justified and it still fell too long for a daily drive(I know I’m biased).

Then I went out to lunch and saw an N Line and I stopped in the tracks to admire. It was either I was looking at it from a Jazz for next few years or driving one. In that moment, even for the risks involved with the TGDi engines and DCT the decision was reaffirmed for the N Line

Sorry to keep you waiting. Here’s an Update from the PDI of the vehicle they have earmarked for me on Saturday (March 25):

1. The front
2. Driver’s side cabin.

I had booked the car via Acko and was promptly directed to Universal Hyundai, Najafgarh(Delhi). So far the experience has been smooth with the salesperson. I was suggested the usual accessories: Mud Guard, Perfume, Idol, Mats etc and I won’t be opting for it. While earlier it was expected on a 4 week waiting period, I was informed on 22nd that the car is on the way expected to be received by Friday/Saturday. Delighted!! During the PDI, I did note the Vehicle Engine and Chassis Number to be sure.

Will process the financing with SBI by Tuesday and I have been informed the delivery will be done by Friday. Fingers crossed!

Yes I have factored in the cost of an extended warranty into my purchase plans. I had read in a different thread about a 4 year extended warranty after the original 3 year warranty but I am informed that only a 2 year extended warranty exists. Have things changed recently from Hyundai’s end on the extended warranty offered?

Re: Beater Car | Stay within a budget or follow my heart?

Finally it is here!!

What was initially a few months of wait, with so much change of mind, in fact changing the color a total of 3 times, has finally concluded yesterday as I got the handover of my new i20 N Line DCT in starry night clothing.

It was quite a smooth process with Universal Hyundai Najafgarh and Acko, along with Gaurav Arora from Acko who was quite professional as well as fun to talk to, throughout the whole process(that took about 2-2.5 weeks in total). Fun thing: RTO process got concluded quite fast with the number plate getting delivered before we even left the showroom.

Took a half day leave from work today in order to pick the car today late afternoon and finish the transaction in this Financial Year itself. I did it to dodge the impact of a price hike (last one happened early January I think; these hikes are becoming a quarterly affair) and also as the zero processing fee with SBI(car financier in my case) will stop from April 1. Also, the TCS will be claimable in this year’s IT return itself when I file it in June so it just felt like a smart idea.

Attaching some photos for now. It looks amazing and I haven’t even removed the plastic from seat covers yet. Since it was already evening by the time we finished all the documentation, no photos of the day time but one. Will put up a detailed review of the whole process soon. As it was too late, car pooja will be done tomorrow!

Thanks to fellow BHPians for all of their inputs. I really respect all the suggestions given to me (which I somehow ended up on the other side of, my heart taking over my head), with a sub-5L beater search becoming a different kind of search altogether.
More coming soon!

Re: Beater Car | Stay within a budget or follow my heart?

Daytime Click..Pooja done! Since it was late last evening, We couldn’t perform pooja at the temple.

Still didn’t get time for too many clicks as I was getting late for office. Next set of clicks after anti rust coating, removing plastic covers, ceramic coating (planned to get as delhi has extreme dust, smog and misty winters).

This also brings me to another question: What are some good studios/workshops offering car paint protection/anti rust coating etc around Dwarka, Delhi? Gurgaon also works but the nearer to Dwarka, the better because traffic is killing these days on the main NH8 stretch due to E-Way construction.

Primary requirement:
1. Reasonable pricing.
2. Not a LaLa guy. Must care about the work.
3. The owner/manager of that place should know what they are doing, why it is useful, trade offs of choosing one solution over another.

Experiences based suggestion: the best!
If run by another BHPian: almost equally good.
Both of the above: amazing.
