6 points of note during my V-Strom 250 SX's 4th service after 12,000 km

It has been a regular service visit each time, with the highlight being that I get to see big bikes like the Hayabusa, Katana and V-Strom 1000.

BHPian mobilecentric recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

Just had my 4th service done, just regular service no specific issues. The bike has now completed 12K.

Have been using the bike only for office commutes, had plans to take it places but it did not work out.

All services are done in Kiran Suzuki workshop, Thane. It's been regular service every time so not much to comment on the service centre, just that I get to see big bikes like Busas, Katana and VStorms there as a bonus.

So the 12K's so far have been smooth sailing. Points to note:

  1. As everyone already knows, front brake pads don't last much, but how much ever they last it's good breaking, so I don't even complain and just get them replaced on every service.
  2. Since the beginning, I complained that my horn did not sound good, later even my pass switch would behave erratically. So during the second service, I got the switches checked, the mechanic cleaned it up and the horn and pass switch have been working well so far since then.
  3. My chain started making noise at 11k, went to a local mechanic and he tightened it a bit as it was very loose. In my 4th service, the mechanic said that the chain setting is to the max now and if it becomes loose again I will have to get the chain and sprocket replaced.
  4. For every service they used Ecstar oil but in this 4th service they suggested Motul 7100, I said ok, don't feel any difference (yet).
  5. The only add-on to the stock bike is a Givi top box which I use to store my helmet and backpack/lunchbox.
  6. Have checked my VIN on the Suzuki website for the camshaft issue and nothing comes up for my bike even though the manufacturing of my bike falls in the same period as mentioned. Forgot to confirm this with the service centre.

Overall, pretty happy with the bike so far, even my wife has no complaints as a pillion on our everyday commute.

I just wish I could take her (the bike and wife) out on some long tour someday.
