6.0L, V12 Mercedes-AMG S 65 Cabriolet revealed!

No replacement for displacement - a phrase that is losing all relevance in this day and age, or is it? Mercedes-Benz has revealed the AMG S 65 Cabriolet and the 4-seater drop-top is powered by a 6.0L, biturbo V12 that puts down 621 BHP @ 4,800 - 5,400 rpm and 1,000 Nm of torque @ 2,300 - 4,300 rpm. The car joins the ranks of the S 65 Saloon, SL 65 Roadster, G 65 off-roader and S 65 Coupé.

0-100 km/h comes up in a claimed 4.1 seconds with the top speed rated at an electronically limited 250 km/h. The AMG Driver's package raises the top speed to 300 km/h (also electronically limited). As a needle in a horsepower stack move, Mercedes has also included the ECO start / stop function. As expected, the engine comes paired with AMG's SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC gearbox that transmits power to the rear axle. This automatic transmission offers a choice of three individual modes i.e. Controlled Efficiency (C), Sport (S) and Manual (M).

The fabric soft top is available in black, dark blue, beige and dark red. It can be electro-hydraulically opened and closed while on the move, up to a speed of 50 km/h. Opening and closing take around 17 seconds. Standard equipment for the Mercedes-AMG S 65 Cabriolet includes upholstery in designo nappa leather, headliner in nappa leather / DINAMICA microfiber, an LED Intelligent Light System, a 360-degree camera, Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC, a Burmester 3D surround sound system, DISTRONIC PLUS with Steering Assist and Stop & Go Pilot, PRE-SAFE Braking, BAS PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist and PRE-SAFE PLUS.

The Mercedes-AMG S 65 Cabriolet goes on sale from April 2016 in global markets. It remains to be seen if it will make its way to India as well.
