All-new Triumph Speed Triple models revealed

Triumph has revealed the all-new editions of its litre class street fighter in the form of the Speed Triple S and Speed Triple R. Both bikes are based on a revised 1,050cc, in-line 3-cylinder engine that’s at the receiving end of 104 new developments that combine to deliver more power more torque across a wider rev range.

The changes – such as a new combustion chamber, new cylinder head, new machined crank, new piston design and new ride-by-wire throttle bodies, also help increase the claimed fuel economy by up to 10%. Additional developments include a slipper clutch, a smaller and more efficient radiator and a new free-flowing exhaust that gets a 70% flow rate boost.

The bikes get more rider focused technology, new bodywork and styling updates along with new colours i.e. phantom black (Triple S), diablo red (Triple S), crystal white (Triple R), matt graphite (Triple R). Brembo monoblock calipers come as standard on both models, with five rider modes (road, rain, sport, track and a new configurable rider mode) also being included in the kitty.

Highlights of the Speed Triple S include ride-by-wire throttle, rider-selectable ABS, rider-selectable traction control linked to the rider modes and a fully adjustable front and rear suspension.

The Speed Triple R adds a carbon fibre front mudguard, carbon fibre fuel tank infill panels, a higher spec front and rear adjustable suspension (Ohlins NIX30 upside down front forks + TTX36 RSU rear-monoshock), billet-machined handlebar clamps, risers, swingarm pivot covers and rear wheel finisher, red painted sub-frame, wheel pinstripes, radiator cowls and red seat stitching.
