Australia: 2024 Toyota Hilux facelift unveiled

The Toyota Hilux facelift could come to India with the diesel-hybrid unit, which might also feature on the Fortuner.

Toyota has unveiled the facelift version of its popular Hilux pickup truck for the Australian market. The facelift model comes with a bunch of cosmetic upgrades to the exterior, new features inside and an updated powertrain as well.

Starting with the exterior, the Toyota Hilux facelift features subtle changes mostly at the front. Depending on the trim, the Hilux facelift gets a new grille design and a new front bumper offering a more muscular look. Higher-spec trims also come with black accents around the fog lamps, wing mirrors and door handles; along with tinted LED headlamps.

Inside, the 2024 Hilux facelift now boasts a dual-zone climate control, wireless charging pad, 2 rear USB-C ports, one-touch up/down function on all four windows, and smart entry/start and parking sensors; among a few others.

However, the biggest update is under the bonnet. The Toyota Hilux facelift now comes with a 48V mild-hybrid tech integrated with the pickup's 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine. The mild-hybrid powertrain produces 201 BHP and 420 Nm/500 Nm when paired with either a manual or automatic transmission. The hybrid tech is also said to help increase the fuel efficiency of the Hilux by 6 to 10% while also reducing noise and improving overall refinement.

Reports state that the Hilux facelift will go on sale in Australia next month. It could also make its way to the Indian market with the hybrid-diesel powertrain, which might even be offered on the Fortuner.
