Brembo to set up new plant in Chennai

Brembo Brakes India - a subsidiary of Brembo SpA has announced that the company will set up a new plant in Chennai. The new facility will produce motorcycle braking system assemblies. 

In 2018, Brembo plans to invest Rs. 72.14 crore in India. The company's expansion plans include the construction of the new plant, which will be completed within a year. Besides, the existing plants at Chakan near Pune and Manesar will be upgraded as well. 

Brembo's ByBre brand currently has a market share of over 50% in the 2-wheeler segment. The company is expecting further growth as new safety regulations have come into force from April 1, 2018. As per the new rules, combined braking system (CBS) is mandatory for 2-wheelers under 125 cc, while vehicles with engines larger than 125 cc must have ABS.
