Over the weekend, I did what I feel like is a great median use case for the average Joe.
Nothing too special, it was a Pune-Mumbai-Pune trip.
We were 3 of us while going to Mumbai. Including a 6ft dude in the back seat. He was mostly ok with it.
Started with a 100% battery. Pune -> Mumbai is a good drop in elevation after the ghat section, so I got pretty good efficiency (8.2km/kWh) on the way. Did it non-stop. AC in normal mode, adaptive cruise whenever I could at 95kmph. It was good.
Then we had some roaming around in Mumbai to do. Just brunch n stuff.
On the way back it was just the two of us. My friend wanted to drive, and I trust him enough to hand him a 283hp car. This was his first time driving my car, and an EV in general. So quite the beginner experience for him.
Took him about 15 minutes to get the hang of the car, thanks to auto-regen basically making it one-pedal at highway speeds.
Then came his first test. Faced an insane traffic jam right at the uphill section of the Khandala ghat. Bumper to bumper traffic. And that's when I got him onto one-pedal mode. Again, 15 minutes in, and the guy is visibly laughing at how easy EV + one-pedal mode makes traffic.
We stopped at the Khalapur food mall, and while preparing to take off, a guy approached me with curiosity about the car. Enquired all the usual stuff. He told me he had been tailing us for the last 10-15km, just taking in the sheer sight of it. He himself has booked a pack 3, gonna take delivery a bit later. We passed him later on the highway, and he was still looking at the car Can't blame him, it is quite the looker.
Post that was a pretty uneventful drive back home. Thanks to the uphill traffic, this drive gave us a net 6.5km/kWh. Still pretty good.
Overall, this was a 330km drive, which I completed in 67% battery. I reached home with a comfortable 33% left. My office commute takes about 6% per day, so I was damn happy that I had another 4 days worth of battery left!
I don't know about others, but for me, this was a very very perfect test of an average use case, and I could comfortably use my car as I would an ICE.
